Ar / Av of mALavigauLa

Post by Sundar Krishnan »

venkatakailasam,

I tried again, and after a very long delay of may be > 15 mins, there was some partial success in opening the site partly ; even as it was still trying to download some more items, I scanned the page, and found that the "next" link at the bottom for songs starting with n was not active.

So, in an indirect way, and some searches, I got the foll exact urls' sequence, and thus the mp3 song :
http://apurvaabhi.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html ->
G Balakrishna Prasad-NITYA POOJALIVIGO.mp3 :
http://www.4shared.com/audio/ee8su3NW/G ... A_POO.html
-> http://www.4shared.com/audio/ee8su3NW/G ... A_POO.html

I scanned and found another blog site, whare too this recording is available.

That blog owner gave me another blog : http://sites.google.com/site/gbkprasad/ (I was told that this blog is run by his son Mr Anil), where too, I could not find further details of this Ragam, nor any contact details.

So now, I have one recording of this song, sung by Malladi Bros in Dwijavanti, Adi ;
and another recording sung by GBKP in "maLavi gauLa ?", Adi Taalam ?.

But, as yet, I still don't have the Ar / Av and janya details of Ragam "maLavi gauLa" !

maLavi gauLa vs gauLa-mALavi - Ar / Av ?

Post by Sundar Krishnan »

In http://www.karnatik.com/janyalist2.shtml, I found 2 flavours of a Ragam called gauLamALavi :

gauLa-mALavi.....| 6 - thAnarUpi |..S R1 G1 M1 P D3 N3 P N3 S...|...S P D3 N3 P M1 G1 R1 S
gauLa-mALavi.....| 6 - thAnarUpi |..S R1 G1 M1 P D3 N3 P N3 S...|...S D3 P N3 P M1 G1 R1 S

Are "mALavi gauLa" and "gauLa-mALavi" the same Ragam ?

If so, which one of the above 2 Ar / Avs is correct / more correct ?

Thanks in advance.

narayanate namO namO Ragamalika by MS

Post by Sundar Krishnan »

Is there any Video (alternatively, Audio) link of this song : "narayanate namO namO", sung as a Ragamalika by MS ?
Alternatively, can someone pl post this song file via sendspace ?

I have heard that this song is popularly sung by others in Hindustani Behag, but I am interested in the Ragamalika version, specially sung by MS.

Thanks in advance.

In Post 17, vgvindan has posted the lyrics of "Antaryami alasiti solasiti" - taken from a pdf file.

I would like to know the common / popular Ragams (and TALams) in which this song is usually sung - like for eg, by Malladi Bros.

**************

From some site (don't know which site, now), I have noted in my Notes, the foll against this song :
Tuned by Sangeeta KalAvati, Padma Bhushan, Dr Subha.... ?? (perhaps, I could not listen properly to the Name in the Audio then ??)

So, would like to know more about who has tuned this Song too.

**************

Some yrs ago, I had downloaded Vol 1 and 2 from the Sistla site, but this song is not there in the 2 Vols. Would appreciate if you could post the exact url link to that pdf file, which contains this song (if possible both English and Sanskrit pdf files' links).

Thanks in Advance (TIA)

To day (24.7.12) in TTD channel, I was listening to Sri BalakrishNa Prasad Garu teaching Annamayya’s song భారమైన వేప మాను పాలుపోసి పెంచినాను (bhAramaina vEpa mAnu pAlu pOsi pencinAnu) in Ragam ఆరభి (Arabhi) and enjoyed the same. The same song is in TTD website, is tuned in దేవగాందారి (dEvagAnhAri) and సారంగా (sArangA). To me the last one appealed more. Were these also set to music by him?
Instead of పెంచినాను (pencinAnu) he taught this as వెంచినాను (vencinAnu). He told that ప (pa) becomes వ (va) in poetry. However while proceeding with the teaching, he used only the word వెంచినాను (pencinAnu). As this sounded a little unusual to me, I would like to know whether this usage is widely prevalent. In spoken Telugu I have not come across this. I would like to get examples.
I know that the పరుషములు (parushamulu), క,చ,ట,త,ప, (ka,cha,Ta,tha,pa) change to the సరళములు (saraLamulu), గ,జ,డ,ద,బ (ga,ja,Da,da,ba) in poetry. In Tamil also the hard consonants (ka,cha,Ta,tha,and pa) become soft (ga,ja,Da,da and ba) in the middle of words.

I would be thankful to get educated on this subject.
