If there is already a thread existing, would ask the mods to merge them. EV, according to Sri kalyANapuram ArAvamudhAchAriAr is the "Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar of harikathA".
A nice write up about him which i found in Sangeethapriya home page dedicated to him.

Re: srI embAr vijayarAghavAchAriAr
I did not have the good fortune of understanding his greatness or hearing him live but I have seen him at close
quarters. My grand parents are his neighbor and one of his sons and my father were close friends when they grew up.
In fact, he has had an important role in my identity but I am not going into it here. I knew him as "Embar thatha" and
his grandson Vijayakumar(Kumar) was a good friend of mine. I have seen him at close quarters in his house since I used to
go there to see/play with kumar when I went to Srirangam during vacations. I have seen AIR vans coming to pick-up/drop-off for interview/recordings. I never realized at that time that I knew a great vidwan.
Only long after that did I realize how great a vidwan he is after listening to some of his recordings.
