A Shrividya in Raga Sudha!

Post by melam72 »

Parampara presents Yuva Sangeeth

Vid. Srividhya Lakshminarayanan
Vid. Viswesh Swaminathan
Vid. Ashwin Ramaswamy

Began with Kaanada varnam. Ninne Bhajana in Nattai going on now.

Good padantharam. Voice is attractive. Laya control a bit improved - swarams in 'Sita Rama' for Nattai don't sound as 'snug' as one would expect them to.

Who is she learning from?

Ramapriya alapana has begun now. Don't tell TMK about this concert format; he'd be sending a million editorials to the Hindu!!!!

Refreshing from the normal Purvikalyani/Panthuvarali/Amruthavarshini/variants thereof dished out as submains.

Can violin bowing be improved (especially when rendering durita kala krithis)???

Matangi Sri Raja Rajeswari in Ramapriya (actually Ramamanohari, but whatever).

What a relief from the deluge of Korinavarus!

Neraval and Swarams at Ramamanohari. Confidence over layam has definitely improved. Swarams come out like sparkling diamond dust. If only she had taken a simpler eduppu for Ninne Bhajana...

Violinist needs more practice and training; is borderline mediocre (unimaginative, poor bowing, either too present or too absent). Mridangam and vocalist have good potential- vocalist needs to work more on integrating brigas better into the krithi (esp. in the thillana) and sruthi lapses, mridangist needs more exposure. Overall, a pleasant concert.

Wow, my android music player just played that concert of S Kalyanaraman - by sheer round robin - only yesterday! Something fishy
