The word Nivasa in the Pallavi seems redundant. Construction could have been better

Will structure, layam and pallavi compatibility be still intact? (I do not know, but thought that the singer took such aspects into account).
It looks like vasa, nivasa, srinivasa builds a layer upon layer, and a tempo.
On semantics, what is wrong with nivasa?
nivasa vrkshas sadhUnAm ..
ninasa is abode (refuge) and makes sense standalone also, I think.

Listened to her dEva-dEva yesterday - seems like a robust artiste - has a good punchy delivery. Seeing Praveen Kumar in real action - he has a TS touch - disciple or vazhi?
Whose disciple is she?
Whose disciple is she?

Maalavika did well in Indian Idol until Pride and Prejudice (not hers!) sent her out of reckoning.
I haven't heard this concert. Will do.
The pallavi line goes actually like this:
ezhumalaivāsa nivāsa srīnivāsa...
The Lord who resides on the seven hills,
The one in whom the whole universe resides
The one in whom his consort Sree resides.
Remember the famous shloka from the end part of Vishnu Sahasranama:
vāsanād-vāsudevasya vāsitaṁ bhuvanatrayaṃ ।
sarvabhūtanivāsosi vāsudeva namostute ॥
So here, nivāsa refers to that idea.

Sarvabhuthanivasosi makes sense
IMHO Standalone nivasa does not.
I/o nivasa could have been hrudhvasa.Even that I think is contrived.
The one in whom the whole universe resides - this does not translate into nivasa

HarishankarK,
I see the meaning in its context.
The same idea is also in Bhagavadgita 9.18.

Nivasavruksha is from Ramayana. There it is used in metaphor. Nivasa - a refuge - like a tree, that provides shade. It seems to make sense as it is.If it doea not, Valmiki or the interploater, has erred. God is called parandhama, the supreme abode. In Vishnusahasranamam 'nilayah' is used as one of the names, which is close in meaning to nivAsa.

nivAsa m. living , dwelling , residing , passing the night ; dwelling-place , abode , house , habitation , night-quarters MBh. R. &c. ; %{-bhavana} n. sleeping-room Katha1s. ; %{-bhUmi} f. place of residence S3a1rn3gP. ; %{-bhUya} n. habitation or inhabiting W. ; %{-racanA} f. an edifice Mr2icch. iii , 23 ; %{-rAjan} m. the king of the country in which one dwells Ya1jn5. iii , 25 ; %{-vRkSa} m. `" dwelling tree "' , a tree on which a bird has its nest Vikr. v , 4/5.
vAsa 3 m. (fr. 5. %{vas}) staying , remaining (esp. `" overnight "') , abiding , dwelling , residence , living in loc. or comp. ; cf. Pa1n2. 6-3 , 18 Sch.) , abode , habitation RV. &c. &c. ; ifc. = having one's abode in , dwelling or living in [947,3] ; %{vAsaM-vas} , to take up one's abode , abide , dwell ; place or seat of (gen.) R. ; a day's journey ib. ; state , situation , condition Hariv. ; = %{vAsa-gRha} , bed-chamber (see %{-sajjA}) ; = %{vAsanA} , imagination , idea , semblance of MBh.
The pallavi IMO is a nice example of SrOtavAha yati - vAsa, nivAsa, SrInivAsa, nicely wrapping up with ezhumalai at the end - the words flow, the pallavi is set to a meter, and each word retains its meaning - don't think there is any redundancy...

Malavika is disciple of vidushi Padmavathy Ananthagopalan (Lalgudi Jayaraman's sister). vidushi padmavathy has coached lot of students in annanagar area , i am assuming malavika also is from that annanagar area in chennai. atleast 10 years back i heard her once as part of group singing .
