Could you please explain why u are saying as tukkada concert. I hope u have comparing the concert with ur favourite classical singer.

Concert starts with the varnam. They sang Hamsanandi rare raga as submain. few kritis has swaras too. End has tukkadas. Concert has RTP.

Donot compare the list with ur favourite. Each has it own style.

let us know if u are singing in any sabha will come to ur concert n enjoy it.

Note : Priya sisters will not sing RTP on each n every concert. Main kritis is the highlight of the concert.
Classical singers responsibility to explore more kritis rather than RTP.
They will sing the neraval part with utmost devotion n dedication. If TRS would alive, definitely appreciate their music.
This pallavi was tuined by TRS only.
"kathukutty like us will comment as if we know every thing." They are in this profession for more than 26 years n successfull too.

Hamsanandi, is, by no standard or stretch of imagination, a rare raga. And Pavana Guru, by no standard of stretch of imagination is a classical piece. Singing neraval and swaram to that is just to add insult to injury.

Would Guru TRS do that?

Their manodharmam is stale, unimpressive, and repetitive. Even the likes of Sudha Ragunathan know how to package their manodharmams in such a way that the manodharmam that appears is competent. Priya Sisters don't even bother with that.

Dinamani Vamsa too is a miserable choice for a main krithi. Knowing the Priya Sisters they would've sung Harikambhoji like a chid of Kambhoji and Khamas without any swarupam of itself.

Here you might argue that the sisters may exhibit some flash of brilliance. But Shanmukhapriya would have a perennially sore throat and, like raga Chittaranjani, listening to her attempting to reach tara sthayi would be as painful as seeing beggars in the streets begging for alms. Haripriya, the more 'dominant' sister misunderstands this completely and warps it to make it even more insipid.

As to the pallavi being tuned by TRS mama- any Kuppan or Krishnan can sing a pallavi tuned by TRS. It is nothing difficult. If you listen to only that recording, you might even memorise trikalam, chaturashra tishram and things like that.

The audience comes only to listen to the thukkudas, and they are disappointed by that too as Shanmukhapriya's voice deteriorates further.

A young friend of mine spent 1 hour in their NGS concert last year and finally left in disgust at the mediocrity and insipidness of the music being delivered. A lad who believes even coughing in a concert is a sign of disrespect.

The Priya Sisters have learnt under a set of fabulous gurus- but to no avail. Their music has gone from the mediocre to the bad, and their thukkuda sections (once one of the best of their generation) has also deteriorated.

I know comparisons are odious, and I usually don't make them, but since you asked- let us compare Priya Sisters and RaGa.

Both were from outside Madras.

Both learnt from their parents.

Both got recognition as teenagers.

Both learnt from fabulous gurus - the former from Radha Jayalakshmi aside from TRS, and the latter from PS Narayanaswamy

Both started performing to full houses.

Both cater to the masses.

The latter burst with creativity and introspection. They present rare pieces in concerts with the ease of a maestro. They are in sync. Always.

The former, on the other hand, burst with insipidness and dullness. They present beaten to death pieces with the difficulty of an amateur. Their lack of in-syncness is evident during Kalpana Sangeetham.

You okay, now?

Now tell me, isn't this a tukkuda concert?

Agree with you about Ra-GA.They know what they are doing, and good for them and for for the audience as well.
