Oruthi Magana Piranthu - Behag - Adhi talam

Post by laya2 »

Hi

I don't have the word to word meaning of this song " Oruthi Maganai Piranthu" but when I browsed I got the overall meaning. Can somebody explain to me this:

We have come here with desire for a drum,
And if you give the drum to us,
We would sing about thine great fame and wealth,
And would end our sorrows and become happy,

When the word drum is mentioned here, does it literally means a drum or does it mean anything else here.

What is meant by "sing about thine great fame and wealth"

if somebody can also give the word to word meaning it would be great.

thank you.

Unfortunately, this is a totally incorrect translation of the word paRai as 'drum' instead of 'desired object' - paRai tarudi Agil - if you grant me what I desire....
The link that Lakshmanji has posted is a great resource
