Shiva Padam for Arangetram

Post by Sangeethapriye80 »

Hi,
I am looking for something that has Karnataka roots. I have some ideas by going through the forum reg. a kriti or a devaranama or a padam on Lord Shiva. "Chandrachuda..." or "Entha Cheluvage..." might be a little too slow for my Guru's taste and pure Kannada lyrics might throw her off. I think the kriti by Arasi ma'm is a magnificent piece but this cannot be in Poorvikalyani :(. I am impressed by HH Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar's Shri Jaalandharam Ashrayamyaham..." because I heard a great rendition of D Pasupathy that has Dakshinamurthy verses in the beginning, just what I need. I read a few dance reviews wherein this was performed, but couldn't find any videos. Is this kriti a bit too much to perform as an Arangetram Padam? I am asking because of very fast chitte swarams and that the raga is set in Gambheera Natai (usually opening piece).
Any other suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.
