Foregotten songs

The season has just concluded. A large number of sabhas presented long strings of music concerts and the top ranking musicians each gave concerts around 20 during the season. This has provided a rich variety of songs for the listeners enjoyment- many new songs and RTPs in many unheard ragas, hindustani ragas, multi ragas RTPs as well. It is a welcome trend that RTPs have been included by many musicians.
But I find that some of the songs which were quite popular about 25 years back, have been foregotten by the present day musicans to pave way for the new songs. Many songs are being repeated by many musicians. For instance Enduku peddala. Can we attempt to list out such songs which have gone into oblivion? We will list the songs within the following broad frame work.
1. To start with we will take up only songs in the six major ragas -Todi, Kalyani, Bhairavi, Sankarabharnam, Karaharapriya and Kambodi
2. We will take up the compositions of Trinity, Purandaradasa, Swati Tirunal and Papanasam Sivan only
3. We will include only songs which are/were in circulation in the cutchdery circuit. We will not include songs which lie only in books.
I request suggestions from members for this exercise. This can provide an eye opener for many of the musicians who may include at least some of the songs next year.I am sure that our members who have a long listening experience will bring out a big list (wish list?)

I guess it depends on one's specific concert attendance. I have heard almost every one of the songs above in concerts over the last 5 years, some of them many times over....the exeptions would be Nannu Brovarada, Adum Deivam and Chetulara which, alas, one hears only at the Aradhana these days...
Concert repertoire is one area in which things are definitely looking up with artistes very conscious about avoiding repetition. It is another matter how songs are learnt (tapes/nptations) and whether they are internalized to the same extent as the old masters...

I've heard Maharajapuram Santhanam sing this in Atana. I think it's by Ramalinga Adigalar. He has rendered this song in a recording, April 1990[?] New Year Day's. The recording is available in sangeethamshare.orgvenkat1926 wrote:Sometime back I heard this beautiful lyric perhaps by one of the Sirkazhi moovars

I think it is in ragam Bhairavi . I am still awaiting somebody to sing this song.
