manohari comes close to stealing the heart.. though that means stealing the mind. Of all manoharis not sure which one will fit the blue bird.

You are on the right track and very close.shankarank wrote:manohari comes close to stealing the heart.. though that means stealing the mind. Of all manoharis not sure which one will fit the blue bird.
I think from carnatic music context budhdhi means mind and manam or mano is heart. Maname - is heart - manadai - also heart, Manase - heart again - are all used in tamil film songs and at times in krithis also.

Sukumar and Ananth,
You both got them. You got stone elephant (kalyANi), Ananth
PB would have got my first set of clues for varALi. Then I changed them. Fight and lion (ALi, a rarely heard word in our everyday tamizh).
The clue words are--'give up or take on sounds somewhat close to the exact words! Here are two more:
Stone, suffering.
Way, bhArat, wail.

ALi is also yALi.
1: 'ghoul'ipantu?
4: bahu, but saws? an't tell (so, can't be bahudAri, which would be many ways).

No both are not correct.
No.1 clue - think English + English (what sound does ghost make?)
No.3 clue - three letter name for a blue bird, second part you already got that right
No.4 clue - what's another single word for too many, just prefix saw to that
No.5 clue - focus on the last word, it's sanskrit equivalent - the name of the raga is almost synonymous to that word.

Yes Sir!.
About your Blue Brid - Only three letter word prefixing a manohari is kamala Manohari that I know - I searched in vain in this book for anything matching: https://books.google.com/books?isbn=8120818423 . Seems like a nice book to read to children.

I know this one would be quite tough, I can give some additional clues.
------------------------
So many red herrings for a non-Telugu:
A ragam (not this one),
A day,
The master-lord? (Misheard, probably)
Quick, find the krithi!
(Alone or working together)
------------------------------
The last two lines point to the ragam, albeit in a silly transliteration.
The first four lines, to a famous krithi. In fact, they refer to the first three words of the pallavi.
Two ragas are involved, one is that of the krithi, other one is a word in the pallavi. Both these are super six level ragas.
The kriti is sung often by the DKP/DKJ school.
Do ask me if you are still stuck. Our WhatsApp group solved it in 30 minutes!

I think these clues should help you:
"Two ragas are involved, one is that of the krithi, other one is a word in the pallavi. Both these are super six level ragas."
There is just one set of six famous melakarta ragas which have a mathematical relationship. I guess this should be easy. Once you got that, it's just a question of identifying a pallavi containing one of these six raga names, set in another of the six ragas.
The krithi ragam can also be got from,
"The quick grouping".
Important, every word/phrase in the question provides some useful clue to the answer.

Chani Todi Theve - Harikambodhi.
A Telugu kriti with a pallavi line that gives wrong clues to a non-Telugu.
Chani - is not Sani (Saturday)
Todi - the other ragam
Theve - for a Tamilian especially can sound like dEvE
