Post by asangeetha »

Chitravina N Ravikira, an iconic musician of our times is also a prolific composer with over 700 compositions to his credit including varnams, krtis, padams, javalis, tillanas and folk melodies such as chindu composed in various languages like Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.  He is also the first composer to have composed the 72-mela ragamalika geetam and to have created a composition in each of the 35-Talas  which are suitable for concert presentation and practice. Shri Ravikiran's compositions have been presented in concerts by many contemporary musicians and are popular for their haunting melodic and rhythmic beauty.

Acharyanet and Arohana will be providing a deferred webcast of the Master Class with Shri Chitravina N Ravikiran teaching some of his own compositions. The session will be recorded live on June 18th in Madison, WI and streamed online by Acharyanet.com. This is a great opportunity for students and performers and details are provided below.

Registration for the webcast can be done here.
