Re: Trivandrum R Vaidyanathan passes away
Sri Trivandrum Vaidyanathan used to play Mridangam with restraint - giving enough room for the main artist. Needless to say this is something very valuable especially in Veena concerts.
I have been fortunate to have had his Mridangam accompaniment in a few concerts at AIR Trivandrum during the eighties. An extremely dignified person he used to be forthright in giving his suggestions / opinion.
I had been to his residence in Besant Nagar, Chennai today morning to pay my last respects. All those gathered there were shaken to know about the sudden and untimely death of Sri Vaidyanathan. His unhurried but scholarly approach in playing Mridangam was remembered by all. And a gentleman that he was.
He was highly devoted to his Guru Palghat Raghu. He had still around 2 years' service left in AIR.

Very very sad news . He was one of those mrudangists who always never crossed the lakshman rekha to outshine the main vocalist. Condolences to his family and all other fellow musicians . My sincere prayers for his family to gain strength from this terrible loss
