Sri Parameswaran-SkypeClasses in Tanjore bani of mridangam

Post by kappi »

Dear all Rasikas,
This is to bring to your kind attention about the mridangam exponent and teacher named Sri Kodunthirapully Parameswaran from Palakkad, Kerala.
He is the torch bearer and the living authority of the traditional Tanjore bani of percussion. He is the grandson of Kodunthirappully Sri Swaminatha Iyer (who was the disciple and close comrade of Palghat Mani Iyer; he had also taken lessons directly from Tanjavur Vaidynatha Iyer). Sri Parameswaran, later did his gurukulavasam with Dr TK Murthy, who as we all know, is the only mridangist who plays the most pristine form of Tanjore style, as directly derived from Tanjavur Vaidyanatha Iyer himself.
As part of his ongoing efforts to create awareness about the Tanjore style of mridangam, Sri Parameswaran is now offering mridangam lessons over the internet (Skype). Whoever interested is encouraged to contact him at
+91-944732 7400 (cell)
+91-491-2508528 (home)
to set up a class schedule.

Thank you all for your kind attention.
