Is this in Kapi ragam? Is some other ragam also mixed.

Kapi! Pure Peaberry roasted, ground and brewed to perfection

Yes it's strong coffee no doubt but it's very different from normal Kapi songs (carnatic and film). Guess am more used to Starbucks and Costa so unable to realize taste of vintage Kumbakonam degree Kapi.

There is a bit of Chicory added here and there which makes it a Mischkaffee (misra kApi)

Unsurprisingly, the new coffee was generally detested for its awful taste, and the whole episode is informally known as the "coffee crisis". The crisis passed after 1978 as world coffee prices began to fall again

I bought the best lavazza coffee powder for my neighbour Maami. I make espresso with it.
She did not like it and quipped " does not have the niram , suvai nor thidam" . She prefers the peaberry to Arabica. And she prefers chicory in it. Simply put she likes the Narasus.
There is no accounting for taste. And all the guests to her house " besh besh pramadam".
What we get used to is what seems best to us.

That is perfect MischKofee.

பித்தளை அல்லது தாமிரத்தாலான சற்றே மெகா சைஸ் ஃபில்டர்கள், ‘டம்ளர் - டவரா செட்’கள் இவைதான் கும்பகோணம் டிகிரி காபிக்கான அக்மார்க் முத்திரை எனப் பலர் நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால், உண்மை அதுவல்ல.

ஐம்பது வருடங்கள் பின்னோக்கிப் பார்த்தால் கும்பகோணம் ஆதி கும்பேசுவரர் ஆலயத்தின் மொட்டை கோபுர வாசலில் ‘லெட்சுமி விலாஸ் காபி கிளப்’ இருந்தது. இங்கே ஃபில்டர் காபி குடிக்க எந்நேரமும் கூட்டம் வரிசை கட்டி நிற்கும். தனது கடையை நம்பி வந்தவர்களின் நாவுக்கு ருசியான காபியைத் தருவதில் தனக்கென ஒரு இடத்தைத் தக்க வைத்திருந்தவர் கடையின் உரிமையாளர் பஞ்சாமி ஐயர்.



இதனால் அக்கம் பக்கத்து மிராசுகள் எல்லாம் வண்டி கட்டி வந்து கிளப் டிகிரி காபிக்காகத் தவம் கிடந்தார்கள். பசும்பாலை அப்படியே கறந்து துளியும் தண்ணீர் கலக்காமல் அப்போதே காய்ச்சி எடுத்து, ஸ்பெஷலாக வறுத்து அரைக்கப்பட்ட காபி தூளில் நம்பர் ஒன் தரத்தை எடுத்து அதில் ஒரே ஒரு முறை மட்டுமே டிகாஷன் எடுத்து மணக்க மணக்க ஃபில்டர் காபி போட்டுக் கொடுத்தார் பஞ்சாமி ஐயர். இதற்காகத் தனது ‘கிளப்’பின் பின்புறம் பிரத்யேக மாட்டுப் பண்ணையே வைத்திருந்தார். அந்தக் காலத்திலேயே அதில் இருபதுக்கும் குறையாத பசு மாடுகள் அசைபோட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தன என்றால் பஞ்சாமி ஐயரின் பொருளாதாரப் பலத்தை ஊகித்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்.



கும்பகோணம் மற்றும் அதன் அக்கம் பக்கத்தில் மட்டுமே தெரிந்திருந்த பஞ்சாமி ஐயர் காபியை உலகறியச் செய்தது இசை வித்வான்கள்தான். கும்பகோணம் இசைக் கச்சேரிகளுக்கு வந்த வித்வான்கள் பஞ்சாமி ஐயரின் டிகிரி காபியைக் குடித்துப் பழகி, ஒரு கட்டத்தில் அதன் சுவைக்கு அடிமையாகவே மாறிப்போனார்கள். இதனால் போகுமிடமெல்லாம் ‘குடிச்சா கும்பகோணம் பஞ்சாமி ஐயர் கடை டிகிரி காபி மாதிரி குடிக்கணும்’ என்று பேச ஆரம்பித்தார்கள். இதுவே பேச்சு வழக்கில் கும்பகோணம் டிகிரி காபியாகிப் போனது.

கும்பகோணம் கொழுந்து வெற்றிலைக்குப் போட்டி போட்டுக் கொண்டு கும்பகோணம் டிகிரி காபியும் பிரபலமானது. பஞ்சாமி ஐயரைத் தொடர்ந்து இன்னும் பலர் கும்பகோணம் பகுதியில் டிகிரி காபி கடைகளைத் திறந்தார்கள். என்றாலும் 1960 தொடங்கி 1986 வரை கும்பகோணத்தில் பஞ்சாமி ஐயர்தான் கொடிகட்டிப் பறந்தார்.



இப்போதும் கும்பகோணத்தில் டிகிரி காபி கடைகள் பல இருக்கின்றன. ஆனால், அவர்கள் யாரும் ‘கும்பகோணம் டிகிரி காபி கடை’ என்று தங்களைப் பிரகடனப்படுத்திக் கொள்ளவில்லை. இது குறித்து நம்மிடம் பேசினார் கும்பகோணத்தில் டிகிரி காபி கடை வைத்திருக்கும் ‘முரளீஸ் கபே’ உரிமையாளர் முரளி

“பித்தளையில் டம்ளர் - டவரா ‘செட்’டையும் ஃபில்டரையும் வெச்சு காபி ஆத்திட்டா மட்டும் கும்பகோணம் டிகிரி காபி ஆகிடாது. காபி தூளை வறுத்து அரைத்துத் தரம் பிரிக்கிறதுல ஏ, பி, ரோபோஸ்ட்ன்னு மூணு தரம் இருக்கு. இதுல ‘பி’ தான் நம்பர் ஒன் தரம். பஞ்சாமி ஐயர் இந்தத் தூளில்தான் காபி போட்டார். மத்தவங்க ஒரு தடவ காபித் தூள் போட்டா அதுலருந்து மூணு தடவை டிகாஷன் அடிப்பாங்க. ஆனா, பஞ்சாமி ஐயர் ஒரே ஒரு தடவதான் டிகாஷன் எடுப்பாரு. இப்படியெல்லாம் செஞ்சுதான் தன்னோட காபிக்கு ரசிகர் பட்டாளத்தைச் சேர்த்து வைச்சிருந்தாரு.



அதுபோல, டிகிரி காபிக்கும் பித்தளை ‘டம்ளர் - டவரா செட்’டுக்கும் எந்தச் சம்பந்தமும் இல்லை. கும்பகோணம் பித்தளைப் பாத்திரங்களுக்குப் பேர் போன ஊர். அதனால் அந்தக் காலத்தில் பித்தளை டம்ளர் - டவரா ‘செட்’ல டிகிரி காபியைக் கொடுத்தாங்க. அப்ப எவர்சில்வரும் அவ்வளவா புழக்கத்தில் இல்லை. அதுவுமில்லாம மத்த பாத்திரங்களைவிடக் கூடுதல் நேரத்துக்குப் பித்தளை பாத்திரத்துல சூடு நிலைத்து இருக்கும். கும்பகோணம் டிகிரி காபியைப் பித்தளை பாத்திரங்கள்ல குடுத்ததுக்கு இதுதான் காரணம்” என்று கும்பகோணம் டிகிரி காபி ரகசியத்தைச் சொல்லி முடித்தார் முரளி.
