I remeber listening this song Nera mora from a recording of Smt. Rama ravi.
Kindly give me some time.
I perhaps can give the text and the recording too.
One is sure to find it in Brinda amma's collection.
Kindly check!

Shahana occurs before this. And it is back to hamsadhvani after kOsala.

The Rudrapatnam brothers sang an RTP in Hamsadwani at the Music Academy last December, with the words "Lambodara Lakumikara, Ambasutha Amaravinutha", just like TNS's RTP in Malahari.. in fact TNS was sitting in the first row during that concert!

Dear members , It would be only appropriate to put forth my request to view my composition in Hamsadwani -on Lord ganesha as well as Hamsadwani Sabha rasikas. this one was composed in compliance with the request of the Great TRS, who presented this kriti at the Hamsadwani Sabha .And response by the respected rasikas was overwhelming .This kriti is posted in www.karnatik.com

This URL will take you to the clip in question and a rendition by the composer himself! A very lovely compsition - very clever use of the words 'rasika ranjanA'...
Sri Ramraj, would you call the language just telugu, or a sort of maNipravALa(m) with sanskrit and telugu mixed?

Ravi Shankarji Namaskaram, though it is a kriti in telugu.sanskriti padams are adopted for the simple reason of adding colour to the saahityam as is evident in thousands of other telegu kritis of and also tamil krities. The great Papanaasivan has included sanskrit words to several kritis .In the above kriti Telegu padams start emerging from caranam lines .Thank u for ur views.

Hallo friends ,
My contribution in this Ragam "HAMSADWANI RASIKA RANJANA' in glorifying Lord Ganesha and portraying HIS grace in general and
HIS pervasive impact on the rasikas' of HAMSADWANI MUSIC SABHA- Chennai. This was performed by none other than the great
TRS . The kriti was composed in compliance with his request and within a day before the actual concert. He virtually enthralled the audience with his deft handling the kriti

With some many hamsas in the water and quacking, I started getting the smell of fish. Hamsdwani does not smell like fish, whatsoever.

Nice blog entry, ramakriya. That BMK hamsadhwani is very experimental!
Here's my ultimate favourite (MDR-TNK-VR; vAthApi with R, S):
http://www.sendspace.com/file/pov7ik
I have always been fascinated by MDR's hamsadhwani because of the way he ends several of his phrases (especially evident in this alapanai) with a distinctly kEdAram-ish S R,,,, GRS,,,. The first few times I heard this usage I was rather perplexed, but now I love it.

Another favourite (TNK-Viji):
http://sangeethamshare.org/prasad_badar ... dhwani.mp3
A really well developed essay.

Ramakriya: Nice write-up!! Interestingly, Hamsadhwani in HM has an identity that is distinct from Shankara whose origins, however, remain obscure!

Neramo rA jAra-cora is a javali attributed to pallavi Doreswamy iyer..

It is sung by Rama Ravi.. There is even a commercial recording..

I am very interested in this composer.. Has anyone else a pATAntara of this song..? Are there renditions by Brinda or her kin..?

Ramakriya,
Just got to see your blog! Very nice! Yes, how did such a nice rAgam got the name of a honking bird's sound! I suppose the word hamsa conjures up images of a beautiful and soft feathered bird of the legends to inspire rAgam names like hamsAnandi and hamsa nAdam too!
Rashid Khan's hamsadhwani is delightful. I find his solid delivery of svarams pleasing. When the bandish is rich with imagery as this particular one, the pleasure is more, mainly for CM listeners who are used to krutis with their weight in meaning.
The avarOhaNam in HM is not SRGPNS but SRGPGRSGPNS according to this clip while the avarOhaNam is the same.??
The film song 'jA tujh se nahin bOlUn kanhaiyA' in ParivAr (?) is very similar to this.

The song nera mora jara cora has been performed by Rama Ravi on a 2 CD thematic concert available at Shrishti Carnatica Ltd.
Hyderabad Brothes have also rendered this at the Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam on May 31, 2004.

ok. Sorry, this may not be relevant , but I just could not resist drawing up the meaning - Hamsa dwani -" swan song"??? the wiki says "The phrase "swan song" is a reference to an ancient belief that the Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) is completely mute during its lifetime until the moment just before it dies, when it sings one beautiful song.[1]

For any one in love with this raga, please listen to Kishori Amonkar's rendering of a a tarana (is that an equivalent of our thillana??) in musicindiaonline.com. That is amazing indeed.

Thanks, this is lovely. I thought chatushruti dhaivata featured as an anusvara in some of the N-P descent phrases: did anyone else notice this?
