One raga at a time: Shankarabharana

Post by Rsachi »

An auspicious beginning for this kingly raga:
Sudha Raghunathan sings Dakshinamurthe at Music Academy (2003?): http://www.saavn.com/p/song/telugu/Dwan ... j0oXRNxfwA

Great collection! But no 72 is Vallagadanaka in Harikambhoji. Heard that one anyway.

Sir, hats off to you. That song (Vallakadanaka means don't say it is not possible!) is listed as in Shankarabharana in both my books! Anyway, what a terrific collection

Vallagadanaka , usually sung in harikambodhi is the version popularized by Umayalpuram school. Valajapet disciples sing the same krithi in shankarabharanam.

Thank you Varsha. Whereas I would love to soak up the Shankarabharana, a likely phase 2 phase surge in last night rain around midnight has killed off my modem, Wifi booster, several power strips, bulbs and two Macs. You can imagine the crisis of my life. Will need to spend blood, sweat and money to restore order. Meanwhile, Shankarabharana will go on in my head.

How awful! My sympathies. Sachi - hope you get to fix the damage as soon as possible!

Fixed the BB modem. Cost Rs 200. 2 Macs down. UPS down. Two powerstrips down. Netgear repeater blown off. Bulbs blown off. Well. Cost may be ₹20K.
Thanks for the commiseration. Doing more with less is key. That's it.
