Ragas handled differently by past musicians

Post by ratanabhinav »

Hi. I am an avid rasika of carnatic music. I have seen that the handling of raga nattai by Sri. Ariyakudi iyengar
differs subtely from the present day handling. His alapana before margazh thingal is so different and the thiruppavai is also set to a diffrent tune.
Recordings are available in youtube. Can anyone throw light on this. We can come to know of lost tradition. Also, in the website guruguha, it is reported that sahana in ancient days was sung with G2. It would be exciting to hear a sahana with traces , lining of kanada. Can anyone throw light on this. Also, a raga andhali, in which brihannayaki is sung, has two types. As handled by Brinda- Mukta, it has G2. It is such a beautiful ragam. It is my humble request to present vidwan to sing an RTP in this. n
