tigaTTumO - I don't think it means 'will it satiate'. I think what Sri GKB wonders is 'will repeated visualization (pArka-pArka) of my Lord's beautiful form make it cloyingly/tiresomely sweet (tigaTTumO)?'

satiate-satiety- here is the definition:
1 : the quality or state of being fed or gratified to or beyond capacity : surfeit, fullness
2 : the revulsion or disgust caused by overindulgence or excess
'tigaTTuvadu' in tamizh means exactly this.

Thanks Punarvasu...I always associate tigaTTudal with something that is 'excessively sweet' - while satiety to me is a more general feeling of fullness.

TigaTTal (colloquial) is feeling stuffed.

There is a thidippu tigaTTal, which you rightly refer to as cloying sweetness -- but even here it occurs when you have had enough of something sweet to start making you feel sick, sometimes just a little of that sweet does the trick,.......sometimes tigaTTal can occur just by watching something cook for hours, standing next to the stove e.g. - some complicated payasam like nei payasaam or ada pradhaman, which are great eats ....... you just can't eat it when done since you inhaled so much of the sweetness already that it is coming out of your pores and you need to give your culinary senses a break...

Another instance is being near the stove when something is cooking in, say, mustard oil - if you don't care for this.

And THEN there is general tigaTTal -- used esp. when youngsters don't want to be served more of something that is good for them.........they say, amma/whoever.....pOrum..tigaTTaradu...kOmaTTAl varadu....OkAlam varadu.......so satiation can occur not necessarily when the belly is full..as in the sweet scenario.......

Was that a nice tigaTTal a la carte or what... :-))

Happy Deepavali, hope no one tigaTTifies with the goodies!

Thanks to all of you for the help... no amount of harikAmbhOji can lead to 'tighaTTal' for me :-)

tigaTTumo? is the question, but tigaTTAdE! is the implication, avowal.

There is also an Ambujam Krishna song which starts with the same words: pArkkap pArkkat tigattumo?
em kuRunguDi maRuviDum sundara paripUraNAnaip pArkkap pArkka...

Going back to another thread, 'kamala pada malar' in my view does not need the extra p whereas we need a p afer pArkka and a t after the second pArkka here!

This thread is revived after seven years :)

PB,
Delightful singing by T.S.Rangammal of yore. Thanks for bringing it. She reminds me of KBS. Now, is it the GKB song which was requested, or the AK song?

PBala,
Hope Lakshman has the lyrics. My feeble attempt in finding it only led to some listings of it and not the entire song. I remember the first line well because she sang it to me soon after it had come to her: pArkap pArka tigaTTumO, em kurunguDi maruviDum sundara paripUraNanai in kEdAra GowLa about the deity in tirukkurunguDi. All I can remember is the glow in her face as she sang of the native village's (her husband's) perumAL...
