Dear members,
does the form Avadhana Pallavi have two different rhythms at the same time?

Re: Avadhana Pallavi
In Avadhana Pallavi, while singing the same pallavi, simultaneously 2 types of talams are dispalyed - one with the right hand and another with the left.

Suguna Purushotham is an exponent of this form of Pallavi singing.

Rhythm would/should be the same - and it depends on the inherent rhythm of the melody (although that can be somewhat dependent on tala). But tala keeping should be viewed as a way of keeping/tracking time rather than establishing the precise structure of the rhythm.

It would be interesting to play a woodblock with one hand, keeping a different tala to that of the mridangam.
