The three books that I have carried everywhere (and are now in a sorry state) with me are:
1) The complete works of Subramania Bharati,
2) Ramayana by Rajaji,
3) Mahabharata by Rajaji,
and I think they will make wonderful gifts as well.

Bhajanaamrtam published by A.K.Gopalan containing 900+ pages of slokas and kritis/bhajans in tamil if the individual is interested in CM/Bhajan. It is available in Giri Trading.
The book on Vivekananda was gifted to me by one of the Bengali's for doing Saraswathi puja in their house in January.
