Re: sabdam thillai ambalam thannile - lyrics
Ganesh, here you go. I have based this on the words I hear in the link you posted. This is an interesting Sabdam where the caranas are in the form of questions (except the last one). Do you know who the dancer is in the clip you posted? It looks to be vintage, going by the sepia tints of the video.
tillai ambalam tannilE naTam seidiDum naTarAjan
en ellai aTRa kAdal nenjinil eppO tAn aRivArODI
sakhi ingu tAn varuvArODI
The lovelorn nAyikA asks: ' When (eppO tAn) will naTarAja (naTarAjan), who dances (naTam SeidiDum) in (tanilE) the temple/hall (ambalam) at cidambaram (tillai), come to understand/realize (aRivArO) in his heart (nenjinil) my (en) boundless/limitless (ellai aTRa) love (kAdal) for him? Oh friend (sakhI), will be at least (tAn) come (varuvArO) [1] here (ingu)?'
kaRpanaikkum eTTiDA uyar gaganatil ninRADiDum
aRputam naTam nenjil ninRennai ATTi vaippadum enODI
sakhi Avi SOrvadum enODI
The nAyikA wonders: 'Why (EnO) is it that his wondrous/amazing (aRputam/arbhutam) dance (naTam), performed (ADiDum) continually (ninRu) in the lofty (uyar) skies (gaganattil) that are beyond (eTTiDAda) even my imagination (kaRpanaikkum), has established (ninRu) itself in my heart (nenjil) and is torturing (ATTi vaippadum) me (ennai) so? Of friend (sakhI), why (EnO) does my spirit (Avi) languish (SOrvadum) so?'
svappanatinil kaNDa dEvanum sonda nAthanum AvanO
aRpapEdayin Asai ambalattADuvAr nenjil eRumO
sakhi vADum en uLLam tERumO
She continues to wonder: 'Will the god (dEvanum) that I beheld (kaNDa) in my dreams (svappanattil) ever become (AvanO) my very own (sonda) husband/Lord (nAthanum)? Will the desire (ASai) of this insignificant (aRpa) and foolish woman (pEdayin) ever ascend/reach (ERumO) the heart (nenjil) of the one who dances (ADuvAr) in the (golden) hall (ambalattu) (of cidambaram)? Oh friend (sakhI), will my (en) grieving (vADum) heart (uLLam) thrive/be reassured (tERumO)?'
tat di tAm dhimi, di di tOm ena tALa mELam muzhaNgiDa
ardhan en uLLam ALum nAyakan AvalAi varuvAnODI
idarkkAruDam mozhi sollaDI
She beseeches: 'As the cymbals (tALa) and the drums (mELam) resound (muzhaNgiDa) to SorkaTTu that go (ena) tat di tAm dhimi di di tOm, will ardhnArISvara (ardhan) [2], the lord (nAyakan) who rules (ALum) my (en) heart (uLLam), come (varuvAnO) to me with eager anticipation (AvalAi)? Please tell me/explain to me/ennumerate (mozhi SollaDi) the (astrological) signs (AruDam) [3] that foretell/portend this (idarkku).'
FOOTNOTES
[1] 'DI' is a term of familiarity used in addressing women/girls of a lower social standing, or younger age. It is also used among friends as a term of familiarity
[2] ardhan means 'he who is half' – refers to the fact that Siva as ardhnAri is either half (man) or half (woman)
[3] In KSL's original posting this was written as ARudal which is solace, but the sound bytes from the audio track, and the actions used in the clip posted, it is 'AruDam' which I have translated as some sort of soothsaying/reading palms/looking at the horoscope etc, based on the meaning conveyed by the dancer.

Re: sabdam thillai ambalam thannile - lyrics
Thanks Ravi. I am not sure who the dancer is. Or the composer of the sabdam. It is a beautiful sabdam for sure. Had never heard it before.

Not sure who the dancer is. But, Bharata Natya Kalalaya is a Bharatanatyam institution in Kolkata.

Re: sabdam thillai ambalam thannile - exquisite !
I was looking for complete lyrics of this Sabdam and am grateful for this thread (a decade old) !!
Exquisite renditions are available of 5- 10 years ago
The potency of the rAgas is vastly amplified by the dance, and the interpretations given are exquisite !!
The rAga rasa pours out from the eyes, hands and bodies of these great artistes..

Re: varnam after the Sabdam
I confess I do not follow dance much (I realize now after all these years it is my loss)
Unerringly , however, the search for good music has enlarged the empire of my senses.
A cursory search of available dance versions motivated by the grace and skill of one of the Sabdam exponent’s noted in below post was rewarded with a superb Todi varna (both dancer and singer are exceptional, in my opinion)
The versions are about decade old but "age cannot wither , nor custom stale" the infinite variety and beauty of these examples of the great art form...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UhHDYm_PDw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km6fKOqYLT0
Both the kAmbhoji+rAgamAlikA Sabdam and the Todi varnam invoke the SivA.
As the preceptor of dance the natarAja , (the deity addressed in these), seems quite pleased with the offerings !!..they are simply terrific..
