Came across this rare ragam in old recording of Sri Madurai Somu (kriti Pasupathi Sankara and then recently by Sri Palghat Ramprasad (who said it was known only via Madurai Somu & not many others rendered it etc)
Links:
1. https://youtu.be/aTtYf3ksPsQ
2. https://youtu.be/BxheuSSBzNQ
(In above the kriti in raga starts@21:50 and ends near 33:50
@31 few swarams rendered by late vidwan )

From my limited hearing experience I see below things for this rare ragam

Looks janya of shankarabharnam ragam:
Aroh: S R2 M1 P D2 N3 S'
Avroh: S' N3 D2 P M1 R2 S
(Gandharam missing/varja)

It resembles like a counterpart of Durga ragam in aesthetics with nishadham also in scale or a slight Vandanadharini in some aspects. (I may be totally wrong ).

Nice ragam with a melody I felt.

Thx in adv

You have editing window open , you can just remove the word ragam just only have the name of the ragam. Index works best when you avoid ragam word just ragam name is fine. If possible also edit the other ragam that you added.

Here's another video of Madurai Somu rendering the same kriti in this ragam: https://youtu.be/oMf5v1mEMlQ
@6:50 in the video he tells it's a janya of Shankarabharnam and it's an import from HM it appears where it could be Raag Sorath (audio not clear and this is what i heard him saying) from Khamaj thaat.
As of now it appears an eka kriri ragam with aesthetics like HM one with plain notes and meendu/slides(jaaru gamakams) is what i feel. Though this Sorath is similar to Desh raag the above rendition by Madurai Somu and Palghat Ramprasad aalapana for me atleast looked like closer to Durga another HM import (akin to Suddha Saveri of CM but differing in asethetics,gamakas/prayogams) .
There's a Saranga Malhar using same scale of this ragam but it looks very different in rendering.
