ramaraj, I heard the song just now. excellent song how I wish some of the presnt day vidwans popularise it in their kutcheris. The raaga reminds me of sumanesaranjani gobilalitha

Thank u , Sumanesha Ranaini is a janya of 56thmELam Shanmukhapriya.whereas kaikavasi is a janya of 60th meLam Neethimati.

dear ramaraj,thanks,once again I am giving you a pleasant trouble. the difference between hamsanathamand shudha saranga. 2) chandrajyothi and vijayanagari. I approach you because I need not go thro'books, just like fast food , you are a fast reckoner of raagas, have you composed any songs in these raagas? when are you coming to bangalore? gobilalitha

There's also a composition of tyAgarAja in this rAgam called vAchAmagOcharamE manasa...... It's been sung quite a bit by MSS.

IIRC, Veene Doreswami Ayyangar has a recording of this - under the series Great Masters series; May be available in MIO etc

hi, ashwin, thanks, I have already mailed lakshmi that the sound effect in your short clipping requires some correction.expecting your full length presentation . did you attend sri TNS performance on 22/9? with my limited knowledge,I have started postings in the forum , which boasts of a formidable list of highly knowledgable people and performers,lakshman , being one of them, an encyclopedia, just now , i am viewing SRI NEIVELI's explaining melakarta and allied raagas, a valuable exercise in jaya tv best wishes to you and rohin uncle balu gobilalitha

The song is available in AudioCD released by AIR two years back.

thanks, meena, heard doreswami iyengar's rendition, starts as simhendramadhyama, takes a turn like a spin bowler's baffling delivery. the playing is so good that each and every swara can be followed even by a listener like me, not fully conversant with the swaras in various forms gobilalitha
