taal of "Vaseegara"...

wish to know the taal of this song " Vaseegara" in film minnale and the corresponding song "Zara Zara " in hindi both sung by bombay jayasree. also would like to know on which word the "sam" or beginning of the taal starts ?/

aaren: I do not think it will fit into any thala as we know it in classical music since there is no uniform 'repeating' sequence in the lyrics.

You can treat it as an alternating heavy and light accents. If you consider the heavy accent as samam, then 'see' of vaseegara falls on that heavy stress.

I think in Western music they would just call it a 4/4 timing, which is basically equivalent to chatrusra jathi eka tala. The song will start just before the cycle so that the strong beet comes on the 'seeg' of vaseegara (or the first 'ra' of zara zara).
