Can someone tell me more about this raagam?
There doesnt seem to be much of it anywhere...

As far as I know, there is the song "Ayarkulaselvam" a composition of D K Iyengar tuned by Tanjore S Kalyanaraman......anyone know of more popular songs in this raagam?

Thnx :)

Here are some 20 second sample of the song you mention, sung by Sri. Kalyanaraman's niece Mathangi as a tribute to him.

Is this one of the dwi-madhyamam ragas that Sri. Kalyanaraman devised?

Thank you very much for the prompt response :)
I have only heard about Sri Kalyanaraman sir specializing in dwi- madhyama ragas but I haven't had the opportunity to actually hear it
This raga might be one of the ragas but I am not sure as I haven't been able to find the arohanam and avarohanam anywhere.....do you know anything more about this ragam?

Thnx :)

I found a thread in our forum that discussed dvi madhyama ragas: http://rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic.php? ... ragas.html

Lalith is mentioned in the above thread also as dvi madhyama raga, so Cool felt it right.

Another one of SKR's dvimadhyama ragas is called Suryasri, if that is of any help.

In the above thread, there is a sendspace link containing the lec-dem by SKR on dvi madhyama ragas. That has since expired. If someone has a copy please upload and provide the link.
May be, he talks about mayasri there.

Thanks cool for the track. It kept getting better and better and more and more audacious(!) as the track proceeds. The swara singing is interesting and it shows the use of dual 'Ma's cleary and it definitely has resemblance to the 20 seconds of mayasri we hear.
