A dancer as a singer

There are a few fulfledged dancers who are also singers of good caliber, like Vasumati Badrinathan. Dr. Padma Subrahmaniam sings very well (she has an MA in music from Madras University, and has even some commercial releases and concerts to her credit). Vyjayantimala Bali has sung at the tyAgarAja AradhanA in tiruvaiyyAru (she is a student of DKP). It is now the turn of Adayar Lakshman - he showcases Kalakshetra/RDAs vision of the unity of sangItam and nATyam:

I have heard M S Sheela is an accomplished dancer too

I have heard Abhinaya exponent Vidushi Kalanidhi Narayanan sing padams with as much finesse as any professional singer!!!

Prof C.V. Chandrasekhar and Adyar Lakshmanan are good singers too. I remember about 15 years ago a number of leading dancers had a mini-Thyagaraja aradhana at the Kapaleeswarar Temple in Mylapore. The singers included Padma Subramaniam, Sudharani Raghupathi, Adyar Lakshmanan, etc. Narasimhachari's voice and style was similar to MDR. A number of the Kalakshetra dancers would have learnt music from MDR.

Sri Adyar Lakshmanan gave a vocal concert recently in madras. and it was reviewd for the hindu as well.

Smt Rama Ravi, is an accomplished dancer as well.
