"Dr. Shertally K.N.RENGANATHA SHARMA M.A.,M.Phil.,PhD,renowned Vocal Artiste in the field of Carnatic Musi, celebrates his Birthday today. Dr.Sharma was born on 30th December 1966 to Smt Lakshmi Ammal and Sangeetha Acharya K.Narayana Iyer. From a very early age itself Sharma was exposed to the world of Carnatic music. He has been groomed under the guidance and training in the 'Guru Kula' system of his father who belongs to 'Semmangudi Tradition'. Married to Smt.Mohana, also a professional singer in Carnatic Music, and is blessed with two children.

Dr.Sharma secured his graduation and post graduation in Music from Calicut University with First Rank and pursued his M.Phil Degree at Madras University(1990). He accomplished his Doctoral Degree at Madurai Kamaraj University focused on "Analytical Study on Various laya aspects in Carnatic music"(2007).

Dr.Sharma began his teaching career since 1993 at 'Sri Sathguru Sangeetha Vidhyalayam', College of music Madurai Tamilnadu, affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University and presently serving as Associate Professor in music. This college is managed by Sri Sathguru Samajam a prestigious institution run by T.V.S management. This is the only institution of its kind in the jurisdiction of M.K. University and in south Tamilnadu devoted to fulltime and wholesome training in Graduation, Post Graduation and M.Phil courses in music.

Dr.Sharma is an 'A'Grade Artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan since 1992. Dr Sharma has been performing under the auspices of many leading music Sabhas in Chennai during the December music Festival. Some of the prestigious sabhas are, Music Academy, Narada Gana Sabha, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Nada Inbam, Nadopasana, Saraswathi Vakgeyakaara trust, Hamsadhwani, Asthika samajam, Tyaga Brahma Sabha etc. Apart from this, Dr Sharma is a vital part of many prestigious music series conducted by esteemed music sabhas in all over India.

With a Concert career extending over three decades, Sharma is also engaged in conducting lecture demonstrations, workshop on different aspects of Carnatic music."
