I would upload a Yaman in my next posting. For now here is a bhajan "O Rasiya" written by 'Prem Sakhi' and is set to music by my teacher Smt. Madhubala Chawla (earlier MAdhubala Jhaveri). In her younger days, she was a prominent playback singer and also a contemporary of Lata Mangeshkar.
I sang this 12 or 13 years ago for a recording for Chinmaya Mission which I did as Seva as mentioned earlier so hopefully copyright issues should not arise
Here it is: http://www.savefile.com/files/1434355

Sumati,
FANTASTIC!
Keep em coming.
You have cast your spell on me too. I am amazed at your versatility - and more importantly, your pronunciation (it is very important for me to distinguish between rAdhikA and prabhU for example - as you say it, and rAdA or prabU as many other CM singers do!)...there is no admixture in the HM/CM streams....
Just a small piece of info on copyrights: you may be right that as a singer you have the rights: however, my sister-in-law does similar singing for a local religious organization in the Bay Area, and the org holds all copyrights...she actually signs a paper giving all rights to them before she records.

Thank you everybody! I am really overwhelmed by your encouragement! Its all Gods Grace!
As requested by Meenaji: I learnt music both Carnatic and Hindustani clasical music in Mumbai, India. For Carnatic music, I had initial training from Smt. Meera Nathan and Smt. Mahalakshmi Vaidyanathan and later I had the good fortune of having Smt. T.R.Balamani as my Guru for advanced training. I also learnt from Shri. TKG for a brief time when he used to visit Mumbai.
I learnt Hindustani music from Smt. Shirish Joshi and from Smt. Madhubala Chawla and I have a Sangeet Visharad degree from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.
Now for VK's question: I am based in New Jersey and teach children here. Giving concerts is becoming tough as i have two young children and running around them is quite a task! That gives me no time to practise and keep in form. I do a few recordings now and then and the latest being a recording for Sri Ahobila Muth, USA.
Thanks you all once again and I am really happy that you all liked what i posted.

DRS,
Now, why would I laugh?
It was well done!
Sumati,
All of us add our wishes to DRS's and say 'sukhI rAkhE ApkO giridhArI'
We really appreciate your contributions here. I am sure you sing to your children: if you have an iPod and iTalk you can record them and the file is a digital file...and hey presto! you can post w/o any copyright fears. (That is how my daughter records her music lessons for practice)...I hope I am not sounding too greedy!
As an aside, in an interview, Aruna Sayeeram said that when she was a young mother, and could not practice/perform, she would rehearse mentally and plan concerts etc. while doing household chores! I am not sure if that it feasible now-a-days.

I agree, Shri. RShankar. I do sing a lot while cooking or just singing to my kids apart from the teaching i do outside. will try and record at that time and upload. Incidently, Aruna Sayeeram's daughter Maitreyi and I studied in the same school and she was my junior and both of used to meet during our western music class in school where we were taught the opera style.

CMLOVERji:
The music for the piece was composed by my teacher and I sang it in that album from which i posted the earlier songs. I have recorded a cassette only on Mira Bhajans. There is a Yaman in that too. But the best I like is the one in Miyan ki Malhar. Let get hold of that cassette and convert it into digital format. I think I need a couple days for the same.
I will post the words for the other bhajans too. BTW where Kulkarnji? He is not to be seen.

DRS
I have a theory
CM with all its complexity can be stressful.
We can see the effects of this stress in a few threads.
I thought maybe some HM would help de-toxify.
As I type this ,I am listening to a 65 minute rendering of Yaman by Sripad Hegde .
40 minurtes into it and I am already feeling like the Smiling Buddha.
Here is quick sample , if you wish.

It will be nice to have a thread on hindustani ragas and also it will be nice to have a comparative study of a raga in both the styles and the presentation etc. Again, as Kji said it all depends on how many members are interested.
As far as Yaman goes, I love that raga too! Has anybody heard the bandish "Mein Vaari Vaari Jaaoongi Pritam Paase" in teentaal? Its a beautiful one though I have not heard anybody render it.

There are a number of them (all of them bhajans) viz. Giridhar Gopal (Mira Bhajans), O Rasiya (bhajans), Suno Bhai Sadho (Kabir Bhajans), Sant Samagam (Bhajans of various Saints), Pyar ka Vedant, Saranagati (Azhwar Pasurams and a few Kritis). I hope you dont think I am boasting....you asked me what is the title of my album so i just gave you the names of all.

Sumati,
I meant the rAgs for the compositions you have posted - when you give the lyrics, if you post the rAg as well, I felt it would be very educational.
Kulkarni sa'ab,
gamakakriyA -...mInAkshI mEmudam dEhi is in this rAgam (vINA gAna dasha gamakakriyE) - currently thought to be the same as purvIkalyANI.
Check this link out:

I am sure DRS can give a much more erudite explanation.

Sumati,
I finally heard the divya pabhandam track that your first posted. It is lovely. I had a question: the one that you have rendered in bilahari, isn't that the one that Smt. MSS and Sri TNS have rendered in mOhanam as a prelude to Sivan's 'nArAyaNa divya nAmam'? If so, does that mean that there are no specified rAgas for these to be rendered in?
