sri govindan, InSri laksnmi nrusimhashtakam , the second para of verse 5is hataka kreeta varahara vanamala, tara rasana makara kundala maneendrai... what does maneendrai refer to? sir. I donot know much of sloikas etc. But a friend advised me to recite it daily. I put this question because a former cricketer , a sikh bears the name of maninder singh. what is the relevance of a sikh gentleman having been named maninderf?

gl,
Please refer to meanings of this ashtakam - http://www.vnn.org/editorials/ET9904/ET29-3729.html
(the sloka is 6th) 'maNIndaraH' would mean 'with excellent jewels"

When the word 'Indra' occurs as a suffix to any word(noun), it denotes that it is the best (superlative).
Eg.MaNIndra-best of jewels
phaNIndra-best of the serpents
narendra-best of men
Am I right VGV?
Another suffix which will give a similar meaning is 'vara'-like
naravara-best of men
phaNivara-best of serpents -etc.
