MSG - MSA duet, Jamshedpur 1970
RTP - SankarAbharaNam

Srinivas, though MSG plays a lot of these ragas you've mentioned as ragamaliga swaras, I do not have RTPs. However, I have his elaborate renditions of krithis in panthuvarALi and simmhEndramadhyamam which I will put up. Also, I have his accompaniment to a tuLasi bilva main of Nedunuri that I'll put up in the kEdAragowLa thread in the Raga section.

Laks1972,
You need bother only about your uploads. If they are copyrighted, you are not supposed to upload them (I hope you did read the forum rules before you signed up). At the least you should come out clean about their copyright status so that they can be removed if they are.
Those uploaded by others need not be your concern. Being a new member perhaps you are not aware of our prohibition regarding copyrighted (and commercial) recordings
We cannot wave some magic wand to find out if it is copyrighted, so it is up to you to declare it to us. If it is later found to be copyrighted, we cannot protect you from the long arm of the law.

Laks1972....while I appreciate your efforts to spread MSG Sir's magic amongst the larger rasika family, please try and confirm to the rules of this site. Your statement "The recording is as non-copyrighted as other recordings that are uploaded in this forum" is qualified and not a straight forward affirmation that your upload is NOT copy righted. And a straight forward affirmation is what is needed by the administrator and in my view the stand of the administrators is very much justified. I sincerely hope, in the interest of the welfare of this site, you will confirm to the requirement.

Sir I have sent my explanation to the admin and I hope it will be reviewed and accepted.Sam Swaminathan wrote:Laks1972....while I appreciate your efforts to spread MSG Sir's magic amongst the larger rasika family, please try and confirm to the rules of this site. I did not want to divert this thread into a full fledged disussions on what is copyrighted and what is not.
I can confirm that the uploaded recording was non-commercial.

I dont know if there are any recordings of an MSG solo RTP in Vagadeeswari available (he has probably done it at some point, just that the recordings are not available). But there is one TKR concert where he sings Paratmudu. The alapana preceding the song is amazing... MSG sir at his brilliant best. That and the swarams for Tatvameruga (Garudadwani) draw continuous appreciation from TKR.

Really excellent RTP, Nageswaran sir. Thanks a lot! I understand the amount of persuasion you would have applied to MSG to make this available. It is indeed a gem, which everybody has to hear. The sound quality is also excellent! Thank you!S.NAGESWARAN wrote:Dear Rasikas, 23.08.2009
One of the best RTP-Keeravani by Sri M.S.Gopalakrishnan and Dr.Narmada is uploaded for the enjoyment of all Rasikas of the Forum.
I got the permission to upload this excellent rendition of Keeravani after great persuasion with Sri MSG.
The download link is given below.

Really superb, bilahari. The raga alapana is especially a must-listen to performance. He exhausted bEgadA in this RTP, with entertaining ragamalika swarams also. Thanks a lot!bilahari wrote:No need for 'humble' requests!

Srinivas, I'm still searching for that gorgeous bilahari by MSG! That is my request to others in the forum--if any one has an elaborate bilahari by MSG, please do upload. I have some brilliant bilaharis by TNK, LGJ, MC, and heard a great one by VVS recently too. Only MSG is missing from that list! Bilahari is very suited for the violin.

Incidentally, my friend who's a western classical violinist and I were discussing spiccato (bouncing bow) recently and she said it would be highly difficult to play spiccato in the Carnatic posture, and I gave her MSG's kalyANi thAnam above and she was floored!

Here is a link to a fabulous Nalinakanti from his tour of USA/Canada in the 70s. Tiruchi Sankaran is on the mridangam.

Watch out for use of harmonics for about 30-45 seconds around 19:30 into the track - sounds like the hindustani flute. MSG uses harmonics extensively in his playing.
Hope you like it

Of course it is a treat, unfortunately ,knowing what copyright means, I can't falsely certify that it is not copyrighted. As per legal definition, "Copyright applies to any expressible form of an idea or information that is substantive and discrete and fixed in a medium"srutishree wrote:Any progress on the URL issue re. Laks1972's posting no. 207 -- Brindavanasaaranga RTP? Now THAT would be a real treat ..... !
Anything created by any artist irrespective of whether it has been released commercially or not , irrespectve of whether it was performed in a ticketed concert or no, irrespective of whether the artist received remuneration or not , is copyrighted. This includes EVERY sound track that has been uploaded by every one in this forum without the approval of the concerned artist.
If this forum rewords the requirement as "Only non-commercial recordings to be uploaded" , then I will be able to upload the recording
