Meaning

Pallavi : O My Mind! Follow daily the Lord who is a friend in need and who is praised by hari and brahmA.

Anupallavi : Do not get entangled in the World in the triad of desires (wife, children and wealth); do not think of anyone other than the Lord who is ever merciful.

Charanam : Sri tyAgarAja, having been born nicely, worshipped very easily that day the Lord is of virtuous conduct. The Lord, being seated in his mind, bestowed happiness in this World and emancipation to him.

Notes

General

(1) It is not clear which God is praised in the Kriti. Most likely it is Sri rAma because what is given in the CharaNa - su-carita; however, the words ‘one praised by hari and brahmA’ is confusing.

(2) This kRti is not listed in the books of TKG, TSV/AKG, CR and ATK. There is a doubt whether this kRti has been written by Sri tyAgarAja. The reasons are given below -

(a) The composer says ‘The Lord bestowed happiness in this World and also emancipation to Sri tyAgarAja - being seated in his (tama) mind’.

(b) Further the composer says ‘having been nicely born, worshipped very easily the Lord of virtuous conduct’.

© He further says ‘do not get entangled in the World in the triad of desires (wife, children and wealth); do not think of anyone other than the Lord who is ever merciful’.

(3) Considering these, this does not seem to be a message of Sri tyAgarAja to his mind. IMHO, this is a different composer who takes the example of Sri tyAgarAja and exhorts his mind to follow the method adopted by Sri tyAgarAja. Also, the ending wordings of the Charanam ‘SrI tyAgarAjunik(i)ha paramul(o)sangina’ is in past perfect - action completed. Therefore, once emancipation is attained by conquering the mind, there is no further sliding down; therefore no further exhortation of mind.

Charanam : dayA-parujnuDu does not seem to be correct; the correct word is ‘dayA paruDu’.
