Pb ,
I know you are very level headed. This thread though named with kritis in bracket is about vaggeyakkara thyagaraja. Everyday with you putting just a link of karnatik and one singer link is turning out to be like RSR post.
I suggest if you have some writeup on something specific you can continue. IF Someone reads this thread after few years they need not pass through a 700 one liners of link to T krithi that too considering sadguru has 700 krithis.
Appreciate all your posts these one liners can be stopped as they are very un PB ish. All our posts has to be found and enjoyed by future rasikas, let us leave great legacy for them to read all posts.
. I would like to hear from you if you still think this one liner post is ok.

You are too late or, shall I say, 'in time' !
Did you notice the '---' at the end of the last post, indicating that I have ended this series !
These links were given to Tyagaraja's 18(!) kritis on Lord Shiva !
(Quite a few of them may be new to many rasikas.)
PS:
Thanks for communicating with a great deal of indulgence.

It's ok. This is after all a site to share and discuss music - and of late there was less music and more departed membership for a while, so it is welcome. But it may be that in the process of sharing, no discussion of these kritis even happen. I have a plan for a very specific set of Thyagaraja's compositions, but lack of time means I can't find time to write about ragas even, let alone this.

Srinathk
Pb has taken right decision.I suggest you to write in your notepad and then paste it here for each of your collated thoughts. Most of my long posts I only do that. You have done that few times for sure . For eg ur lovely raga posts. Too much of one or two liners demotivates active contribution from remaining 10000 rasikas.
As you say it is sad that there are not that many active posters . Musicians poach good active writers. Unfortunately most of them want it to be written only in private Facebook that way only that musician grows. Also rasikas.org is threatened by Facebook and whatsapp. In long to medium term rasikas.org will win .
Rasikas.org is like thyagaraja neatly indexed and will live for ever. Your grand child will read all posts if and only one or two liners stop. You personally help me on reducing everyday 80 percent posts that says notation request with
One usual reply that has "sent" as reply. It is ok to have one or two days where clicking active topics we get zero posts than -3rd day we get a post like crama reporting dikshitar vaibhavam or a srinath reporting on raga arabi. Those 2 days will be like mdr silence.
Pb,
Thank you for your action. We donot have to delete any posts .You have clarified . You are the finest varisu of ponbhairavi rajagopalan sir, hope some concerts happen in pondy please do report.

I took the contents of your Post #407 in the right spirit, and requested our Mods to delete all my Posts from #389 to #406.
As and when Mods decide to delete these posts, as indicated by you I will take up one by one and add some interesting feature specific to each kriti. I would also change their look a bit more appealing so that they don't look monotonous.
By including appropriate keywords, I could also make them more search-friendly.
Reg the points raised in your Post #411, I will write shortly.

YOu are the sherlock holmes in terms of searching . I did not know the krithi at all even searching here only has one link where your friends daughter nadasudha has heard the above mangalam shankar. Googling outside is taking me elsewhere to a bhajan.
@RaviSri
Since in the past you have put posts where you knew to trace rare T krithis into sub schools like walajahpet bhagavathar, thillaistanam, Lalgudi, etc you may be able to help on Shambhomahadeva - shankarabharanam - Thyagaraja krithi that PB asked.

The points raised in Post #411 :
People have different tastes. The focus, needs and expectations of them are varied. We cannot question their needs and expectations based on our personal preferences. And members of each group communicate differently. So, one has to ignore the form & style, and focus on the essence of the communication.
Here in Rasikas, the posts may be short or long. It is a fallacy that if a post is short, all are going to shun it; and if a post is lengthy all would love it. How can one be sure of the quality of the contents of a post? A number of them may have useful stuff. But there is also a possibility that a few of them may be stuffed with laughable trumpeting. On the other hand, a few oneliners may be the result of intense efforts. Harping on the length of the posts may divert our attention and deny us the opportunity to see the useful stuff.
Most of the Members might have joined the forum to seek some information. Their initial posts naturally would only be short, and the reply by other Members too would be short ! How can we decry these posts ? In fact, a new Member with a oneline query may one day become a great musician or a great rasika. Every ‘sent’ post that we see here in this Forum is the result of the labour of love of a dedicated Member. We have to admire and applaud these ‘sent’ posts, for they result in a smile and satisfaction on the part of the recipient. That is yet another feather on the cap of rasikas.org !
Active participation in the Forum is the personal decision of a Member. All may not like to post. So, how can we put the blame on the oneliners for their non-participation ? The universal rule of 80/20 applies here too.
As for our grandchildren, who knows, they may hate music !
Or they may look for brevity and essence, and hate lengthy posts !
The points raised in Post #411 :
Rasikas.org is designed to be inclusive ! There is room for learners, teachers, specialists, performers, rasikas, reviewers, helpers, providers et al.Too much of one or two liners demotivates active contribution from remaining 10000 rasikas.

Re: Thyagaraja (Krithis)
Really a sensible post in a long while outside of music.
I feel that we should be open and not try to dovetail the forum to some formal structure and regulations other than decency and upholding the dignity of the artists and fellow rasikas.
Both CM and rasikas.org must be intrinsically healthy and vital for longevity. It cannot be achieved by some rules and marketing.
In fact, some may not go well with a very formalised format. It may sacrifice naturalness. Life has been possible because of variety, spontaneity and polarity. Anything to have life must follow this template.

Re: Thyagaraja (Krithis)
We welcome sharing of music by all rasikas. No one can be discouraged from participating except when decorum limits are crossed or worse. No one can insist that posting has to toe this line or that line. @Pratyaksham Bala is requested to keep posting any rare collections he may find. After a long time this part of the forum has seen some activity. In the future other rasikas may discuss them.
We also like to add that while RSR's opinions might have caused quite some friction and heated discussions, we have appreciated his efforts to share his music collections.
As our personal suggestion, maybe a group of kritis of a composer can feature in a single post or two. This would give 2 nice big posts. We feel the topic lends itself to that style very well.
@Pratyaksham Bala please don't ask us to delete your posts. We have no such intentions.

Tyagaraja has created 18 kritis on Lord Shiva. These have been handled by many carnatic musicians. Though a number of them may be familiar, a few are rare indeed.
Links to these 18 kritis rendered by select artists are provided in Post #389 to #406 of this thread. Given below is the complete list.

Re: Thyagaraja (Krithis)
PB sir,
I cannot thank you enough for the links to Thyagaraja Kritis on Siva. Rajesh had expressed his own reasons against giving the links. But honestly, I had never searched for these links in the you tube nor have I taken any effort to go through the TKG book. Only when you posted the links, I heard the majestic renditions of these kritis by our famed musicians and read the meaning of the songs. There might be many forumites who would have benefitted like me. So your efforts were never a waste of time and energy. You can give a complete description about any song. Most welcome. But that does not prevent you from giving the link to any recording. Thanks again.

Thank you I wish you had put an opening remark that you are collating krithis of lord shiva and also your special encrpted --- . All this was post mortem clarified only after I posted. We both have clarified and it is closed.

But, one is a slightly strident comment.
The other, a mild suggestion !
I take both in the right spirit !
As I had mentioned earlier in some other context, "one has to ignore the form & style, and focus on the essence of the communication".

Re: Thyagaraja (Krithis)
A opening remark would not have changed the format. It is doubtful whether it would have drawn much attention. Instead I made sure to highlight with bold letters the word 'Shiva' in the first line of each post. But you did not notice them ! You noticed the posts as oneliners.
Our fellow rasika CRama has enjoyed each and every post as stand alone posts. As mentioned by him, many others too would have found the individual posts useful. In the coming days too, these would be found helpful when someone searches for these kritis.
I pointed out the '---' to you, just to convey that I have already ended the series, and that I am not stopping further posts just because of your intervention.
Ooph! I am treating this as closed.

kSINamai tiruga
Though this kriti has been handled by many great musicians, e.g. MVI, MDR, Voleti, SSI, MSS, …, the 80+ year old rendering by Bangalore Tayi may be interest to discerning rasiks :-

Thanks PB for bringing this to our notice. Never heard this recording of Bangalore Thayi and understood the philosophical message contained therein. Thanks.

In order to understand tyAgaraja's poser about the then poets and musicians, listen to what is said here about the famous Arunachala Kavirayar.

Tyagaraja’s grandfather Giriraja Brahmam was in the Court of Shahaji, King of Thanjavur. His father Rama Brahmam received from the Thanjavur king, grant of a house and some landed property. Naturally they, and other family members, might have been praising the Kings profusely, though not in poetry format.
Perturbed by this nara-stuti, Tyagaraja might have composed the kriti ‘nidhi cAla sukhamA’, as a limited address to his own family members! But, it is being treated by others in a generic nature, and used erroneously to put down others in general.

Re: Thyagaraja (Krithis)
pb,
There is a Tamil proverb - அவிழ்த்துப் போட்டவன் ஊரிலே, கோவணம் கட்டினவன் பைத்தியக்காரன்'. Obviously when the whole community had become servile to money, a single person who wants to adhere to dharma, shunning money would, obviously be a laughing stock. And no one would be willing to accept such madness. No wonder.

Addressing individual members, instead of discussing a subject, would discourage other willing members to participate in the discussion.
Anyway, hospitality was available. The gifted house was there to stay for years and years. It was also sold at a later date under signature!
So, it would be safer to assume that the kriti was addressed at some point of time to the members of the family who were wholeheartedly praising the benevolent Kings!

Re: Thyagaraja (Krithis)
I think Sriram V has said that the story that the composer composed this song in response to the king's request is apocryphal. Several such stories are spun based on the lyrical text in respect of famous people. The meaning of the song is lofty without any anecdotal connection.

There are only two kritis by Tyagaraja on vinAyakA. One is ‘girirAjasutA tanayA’ and the other ‘shrI ganapatini sEviMparArE’.
Here are links to the presentation of ‘girirAjasutA tanayA sadayA’ by two great musicians :
