I have a question about the esteemed composer - Shri P. Sivan.
Does the P stand for Papanasanam or Papanasam?
Papanasanam is the name for a place near Tirumala and its meaning in Telugu is decimation of sins : Papa being sin and Nasanam means to destroy.
If the letter P in Shri Sivan's name stands for Papanasanam - is there a connection between the holy place near Tirumala and his name. If it stands for Papanasam - is it the name of a place in Tamil Nadu (or AP?) - any meaning behind the place and how Shri Sivan acquired it?
Thanks.

There are two Papanasam's in Tamil Nadu. One in Tanjore district and another in Thirunelveli district. Sri Sivan "belonged" to the former.

His original name was Ramaiah and he belonged to Polagam. I *think* because of his devotion to Neelakanta Sivan he was given or took the name Sivan, and Papanasam as Sri Ramraj says above.

Papanasam is in between Tanjavur and Kumbakonam. For Tiruvayyaru, you have to take left just 5 Kms from Tanjavur. Going straight, you get Kumbakonam.
