The book by M.R.Shankara Murthy also gives the notations for 39 noTTus. He has also added 8 other songs and given the titles of some of the equivalent english songs.
For example: jagadIsha guruguha is "Lord MacDonald's Reel", rAmacandra rAjIvAkSam is "Let us lead a life of pleasure" and santatam pAhimAm is "God save the queen" etc.

Ramakriya,
Thanks for the info. The number I have is 39 too - I think I used the 40 from the previous poster..
Lakshmanji,
Thanks for the info on MR Shankara murthy. Btw Many of the renditions uploaded on Sangeethapriya and clearly marked "unknown" [those sung in a teaching mode]) are recordings of Shri.M.R.Shankaramurthy. The original source of it was a tape - the last of the copies of it passed on by a kind member of their family.

I searched the net at large and put these mappings together. Hear and comment if these mappings of the original to MD's versions are accurate.

Here is what I have put together so far. See if you hear the similaries between the western original and the MD versions. A few are probably a stretch or may be I did not find the right original.
