Hey guys!
I'm looking for the lyrics, word for word meaning (for dance choreo purposes), and general info on this song (krithi?) Vittuvidada Seethaiyee, adai Ravana....
I've been listening to MS's version (are there other renditions?). I'd like to know the composer, ragam, talam eduppu details, if possible. That would be awesome!
Thank you!

Lji - I tried to search for it here as well, but could not find the link!
Ardhanariswar: This beautiful song is a composition of Sri Arunacala Kavirayar - it features in his rAmanATakam - this is vibhIshaNa's impassioned entreaty to rAvaNa to release sItA - viTTu viDaDA sItaiyai, aDa rAvaNA, and goes on to say that she is like a fire, and not to self-destruct (koDum neRuppu ivaLAlE SAgAdE), or worse, cause the down-fall of his dynasty (kulanASam AgAdE). IIRC, the kavi's compositions were tuned by a couple of students of Sri MD's, and this one is in kEdAragauLai. If Lji posts the lyrics, I will be happy to translate.

That is because of a slight difference in the spelling.

Ardhanarishwar, here you go: BTW, viDu viDaDA will mean the same as viTTu viDaDA
pallavi
viTTu viDaDA sItaiyai viTTu viDaDA rAvaNA

Oh (aDa) rAvaNA, please release (viTTu viDaDA) sItA (sItaiyai), without any complications (summA)!

Be careful to not get scalded/cooked (vEgAdE) in-toto (aDiyODe) because of your association with her (ivaLAlE), for she is a scorching (SuDu) fire (neruppu)! Without knowing (teriyAmal) her true (sva) form (rUpattai), do not drown (mUzhgAdE) yourself in hell (narakattil). Having explained this several times (sonnEn sonnEn), I hope you will not be an idiot (aDaDA), and will prevent yourself from dying (SAgAdE), caught up in the midst (naDuvilE) of all this, and not let your your entire dynasty (kula) be destroyed (nASamAi pOgAdE) at the altar of your lust (ASaiyinAlE).

Do not be dismissive (muriyAdE), please listen (kEL) to my (endan) words (vArttai) of wisdom - if this lady (ivaL), my (en) mother’s (tAi), heart is hurt/becomes weary (nondAl), do you think you will still be alive (iruppAyO)? Ravi,
When they see the zeal and skill you have in translations for dance, the youth will not shun bharata nATyam but will make a beeline to enroll themselves in classes (see another topic about youth shunning CM!)
As I said, too late for me now:) Hope the budding dancer in your family gets to see this and knows Papa's power and love for dance
