I have translated the portion that was sung by Sri Sanjay recently, based on the lyrics provided in the page with a review of the concerned concert:

pallavi
paNamE unnAl enna guNamE daNDam paNNinEn
saTRum en kaNNin mun nillAdE (paNamE)

Oh wealth/money (paNamE)! What (enna) character (guNamE) (will I acquire) for me to have paid (paNNinEn) such obeisance (daNDam) to you? Do not stay (nillAdE) in front (mun) of my (en) eyes (kaNNin) for even a second (saTRum).

anupallavi
manamillA mada mOham krOdham
dunmArgamum mUrkkamum yArukkumE bOdhikkum (paNamE)

(Oh money) that preaches (bOdhikkum) mindless (manamillA) infatuation/delusional belief (mOham) in religion (mada), anger (krodham), vile customs (dunmArgamum/durmArgamum), and foolishness (mUrkkamum) to one an all (yArukkumE) (what will I get from you, for me to have paid such obeisance to you?)

caraNam
tEDi unnai vaittu mUDiyavarkku nI dIrgAyisait taruvAyO
nADiyavan vandu sADiDumpOdu nI nAnenRu mun varuvAyO
kUDiyapErgaL kuDiyaik keDuppAyE
ODi ODi aRparaip pOy aDuppAyE
uttamaraik kaNDAl OTTam piDippAyE (paNamE)

(Oh money) will you (nI) grant (taruvAyO) a long (dIrga) life (Ayisai) to those (avarkku) that seek (tEDi) you (unnai) and keep (vaittu) you hidden (mUDi)? Will you come (varuvAyO) forward (mun) and claim responsibility (nAn enRu) when (pOdu) he (avan) who sought (nADi) (you) is now ready to jump (vandu SADiDum) [1]? On the other hand, (you most certainly) will: destroy (keDuppAyE) the lives (kuDiyai) of those (peyargaL) (that live in) harmony (kUDi); run (ODi ODi pOy) to seek the company of (aDuppAyE) insignificant/vile people (aRparai); and run away (OTTam piDippAyE) when people of integrity and sterling worth (uttamarai) are in sight (kaNDAl).

Ravi, very chastening, this lyric!

PS by the way, I think it is मद, meaning arrogance/conceit, which is clubbed with moha and krodha, kama, lobha and matsarya =अरिषड्वर्ग

I debated about mada being used to mean pride/arrogance etc., but I felt in that case, in tamizh, it would be madam...mada mOham - made be think that 'mada' was a qualifier for 'mOham'...but I could be wrong: In that case, it'll mean 'mindless arrogance. infatuation, anger' etc...

My two cents

நாடி யமன் வந்து சாடிடும் போது=when the god of death comes in search of you and pounces upon

could just be "avan" but meaning the same.

Transliteration:-

paNa dUSaNai
By vEda nAyakam piLLai

P:
paNamE unnAl enna guNamE - daNDam
paNNinEn caTRum en kaNNil munnillAdE

AP:

C 1:

Sri Rajagopala Iyer and Sri PB - thank you! 'yaman' makes so much more sense.
And another clarification - it should be mIDiyavar (those that hide the wealth that they have so assiduously sought) in the caraNam, and not mUDiyavar or even mODiyavar.....

thanks,Dr rshankar.Infact I was quite hesitant to write that post as I did not want to be perceived as nit picking on a single word in your comprehensive and total translation in which yourself (and Rajani and arasi )have established yourself as an unique and consistent contributor by your poetic style well before I entered the Rasikas orbit.

Absolutely not, Sir! This is how we all learn. Hence my (heartfelt) thanks!
