Re: Maa Mayura - Bilahari Ragam-Lyrics and meaning
Lakshman-ji sent me the lyrics in tamizh script, and I have tried to split the words for the first 2 caraNams as best as I can. I think this makes sense, but am open to alternate explanations and splits of words.
Despite my best efforts, the last caraNam with the composer's mudra is beyond me - particularly the last 2 lines; none of the word splits I have tried make any sense to me...I have just translated the fist 2 lines of this caraNam.
Smt. Shobana Vignesh (of Mahanadi fame) has sung the last caraNam, but she sings it so fast, I am not able to make out the words....(she also leaves out the word sadRSa from the anupallavi).
pallavi
mAmayUramIdilERi vA ennai rakshikka
Please come (vA) astride (mIdil ERi) a mighty (mA) peacock (mayUram) to protect (rakshikka) me (ennai).
anupallavi

Oh svAminAtha, who grants (dAyaka) desired (kAmitArtha) results (phala), exellent (vara) among the gods (sura), who looks like (sadRSa) an emerald (marakata) mountain (Saila) [1]!

[2] I think the likeness to the oak is to indicate the size of muruga's arms, and the [3] bull symbolizes strength

The Marakatha shaila has to be linked to the Maa Mayura - the huge peacock like an emerald hill

Perfect !
