Meaning for varnam "manavi chekonarada"

This particular varNam is in praise of Lord Shiva, who is enshrined in the great ThanjAvUr temple, known as BrihadIswara temple (or periya kOyil= Big temple). The item is well suited for dance as a piece de resistance. The dancer makes entreaties to the Lord to listen to her loving words and come to her rescue. She elaborates how all the delightful things such as the cool breeze and melodious music of the birds are not appealing to her. She begs the Lord not to disappoint her but come and bless her.

I am aware of the gist of the varnam and have a rough idea about the meaning. However since I am a dancer, I would appreciate it if someone could provide the translation of the lines. I have provided the lyrics below:

Just a digression.
manmatan (aka kAman) holds the allegorical bow (mind) in his hand and the five senses as the five flowery arrows. With such weapons(?) he can cause hearts to mellow and pine. Many times they lead to happy endings but on a few occasions they can cause problems if the arrows do not resonate properly between the targets (as in the case when he tried to help umA at the request of the celestials and targeted them at Lord Siva and got incinerated).
It appears the same bow and the flowery arrows are held by ambAL (lalitAmbikai) perhaps appropriated from kAman. Dr. Sudha Seshaiyyan (philosopher/religionist par excellence) gives a beautiful explanation regarding these weapons in the hands of kAman and ambAL. For the sensual feelings manmatan is the king. But ambAL provides the energy to properly channelize those feelings.

I posted this elsewhere, but the pancabANa of manmathan is supposed to have these 5 flowers:
He fires the aravindam (lotus) at the hapless maiden's heart, and the first stirrings of longing and love awaken.
The next is the aSoka flower-tipped arrow aimed at the maiden's brow, making her giddy and delirious.
Then comes the cUta flower that is fired at her lips making her tongue-tied...
And when he showers navamallikA (jasmine) flowers into her eyes she bursts into tears for no understandable reason,
And finally, when the all-powerful nIlOtpalam (blue lotus) is shot at her head, she swoons away....

While what is written above is figuratively correct, I always wondered why people associate all emotions such as love, anger, fear etc, with the heart. The word manas or manam has dual connotation in poems, stories, musical lyrics etc.,--that associated with the mind (thinking) and with the heart (mistakenly thought associated with feeling). In actuality both the thinking and feeling are done by the two halves of the mind (actually the brain in physical form but called mind in functional parlance). The brain releases the appropriate hormones--adrenaline, norepinehrine etc and those make the heart palpitate and pump blood faster. The same thing applies to "butterflies" in the stomach too. But who am I to question the poets or sad story writers when they say "the heart is melting" or "un manasu kallA?" (is your heart a stone?)vgvindan wrote:.
