Dear Kunjamma-ji,
I have done it, to my best ability, below. I am eternally thrilled by this prayer. I have done four stanzas.

जटाटवी matted hair, thick as forest
गलज्जलप्रवाह cascading water in a flood
पावितस्थले consecrated spot
गले neck
अवलम्ब्य leaning upon
लम्बितां long
भुजङ्ग snake
तुङ्ग heaped like a mountain
मालिकाम् garland
*******
डमड्डमड्डमड्डमत् going Dama-dama-dama-dama
निनादवत् - sounding
ड्डमर्वयं – this damaru
*******
चकार performed
चण्डताण्डवं fierce Tandava dance
*******
तनोतु May He confer
नः us all
शिवः Lord Shiva
शिवम् auspiciousness
॥ १॥

जटाकटाह cluster of matted locks
सम्भ्रमभ्रमन् swirling agitatedly
******
निलिम्प like billowing wind
निर्झरी-the waterfall
विलोल playing upon
वीचि in ripples
वल्लरी and looking like creepers
विराजमान shining brilliantly
मूर्धनि । the head
*****
धगद्धगद्धगद् with fiery sound Dhagad Dhagad Dhagad...
ज्वलत् burning
ललाटपट्टपावके fire on the flat forehead

*****

किशोर crescent
चन्द्र moon
शेखरे holding – in His crest

*****

रतिः love
प्रतिक्षणं
every minute
मम mine
(May it be)
॥ २॥

धराधरेन्द्र king of mountains
नंदिनी the daughter who delights
विलास sporting
बन्धुबन्धुर lovely consort
*****
स्फुरत् quivering in joy
दिगन्त reaching beyond the horizon
सन्तति all beings (offspring)
प्रमोदमान ecstatic
मानसे । minds
*****
कृपाकटाक्ष look of compassion
धोरणी flow (unceasing) (in the context of my)
निरुद्ध obstacles
दुर्धरापदि inevitable dangers
****
क्वचित् for at least a while
दिगम्बरे in the Lord whose garment is the skies
मनो my mind
विनोदमेतु may resort to in joy
वस्तुनि in the Lord’s glories ॥ ३॥

लता creeper-like
भुजङ्ग snake
पिङ्गल reddish brown in colour
स्फुरत् undulating
फणा hood
मणिप्रभा shining gem
****
कदम्बकुङ्कुम a yellowish vermilion
द्रव liquid
प्रलिप्त smeared with
दिक् the skies
वधूमुखे । (and looking like the) anointed face of a bride
****
मदान्ध blinded by intoxication (in rut)
सिन्धुर elephant
स्फुरत् waving
त्वगुत्तरीयमेदुरे wearing the garment made of its skin
****
मनो my mind
विनोदमद्भुतं amazing delight
बिभर्तु may He fill
भूतभर्तरि the sustainer of all beings
॥ ४॥

RSachi - beautiful! Whose composition is this? It is not the SRnga rahita composition attributed to patanjali!

I also have a question - shouldn't it be aDavi and not aTavi (jaTADavi), or are both correct? (I remember something along the lines of 'aDaviyali dhruvarAya karedarE vAsudEva bandantE')

Ravi
This is called Shiva Tandava Stotra. It is attributed to Ravana!
It has many stanzas.

M.W.: aṭavī अटवी Definition: f. "place to roam in", a forest. comes from theverb aTa meaning to roam, to wander.

In Kannada, both aDavi, and aTavi, are used.

And I watched a bravura performance of the entire stotra (15 stanzas) by Bijayini Satpathy of Nrityagram a couple of years ago.

Lakshmanji
It is correct. I have split the words as word by word meaning was asked for.

Kunjamma : Since Rsachiji has laid the foundation by giving the meaning of each word, I am just stringing it together. Hope this too is of help:

1. On the ground purified by the flood of water (of Ganga) falling from his huge forest-like locks, supporting on his neck the long snake as a garland, with a hand-drum sounding "Dama-dama", Shiva who danced a fierce dance, may he give us auspiciousness.

2. nilimpa also means Devas, nilimpa-nirjhari is the divine river Ganga.

Every moment, my delight is in Shiva, whose head shines with the creeper-like swirling waves of the divine river who is agitated due to the whirling of the huge cauldron-like matted locks, whose forehead sparks with the fire flaming (sounding like "dhaga-dhaga") and who has the child(crescent) moon as a head-ornament.

of course, Rajani-ji, you are right. nilimpa-nirjhari is a reference to Ganga. Thanks

Some versions have dRganta instead of diganta and I have followed that.

When indeed will my mind attain enjoyment in this being , whose heart rejoices in the darting series of glances (which are lovely and congenial to pleasure) of Parvati, who with his series of compassionate glances prevents even unstoppable adversities and who wears the directions as garments?

Rajani - absolutely lovely, as usual. Thank you.
dRganta is kaDaikaN, right?

Sachi/Rajani: Can you translate the other two verses as well?

Thank you Ravi! This page has the link to the Hindi meaning. Would that be sufficient. The work has 17 verses in total and is daunting to translate all that.
