Hi all,
Most of you would know the Malahari raga geetham Kundagoura.
The second line in the geetham is 'mandara kusumakara makarandam vasituva.'
What is the flower 'mandara' called in English? Is it the hibiscus flower?

And kundam (IINM) refers to the fragrant jasmine (mallikaippū), of which hue pārvati is described, correct?

Re: Mandara Kusumakara
It seems that "mandara" is like mantara sruti - not imposing flower - subtle smelling flower and any flower that is not over powering will do. For example, Lilac is said to be very pleasant and makes people happy. So, I am told in the west they spray in the air inside the buildings. I got a bottle from Pune "Tara" brand SPF product www.sfpsons.com. Disclaimer I have no direct or indirect relations with them nor I sell them nor this is an adv. for them . I am writing this because, inside the bath room it smells so good.
