According to

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muttusvami_Dikshitar

Muttuswami Dikshitar composed his first song "Sri nathadhi guruguho" in the Raga Maya-malava-gowla, in the temple of Tiruttani (near present day Chennai). The song was in praise of his Guru, but also in praise of the Lord Subramanya, who is identified with the concept of a "teacher" or guru in the Hindu theology.

MNS,
Here is the meaning:

pallavi: I bow to you, guru, my guru

a.p: pArinil--in the world (ippArinil-in this world)
vazhi kATTiyAi--as a guide (note typo in the text--i at the end-- not y)
iruL vazhi selgayil--while walking the darkened path
agak kaNgaLAi--as inner eyes
oLi kUTTiyE--showing, increasing light
thuNai nalguvAi--you will give assistance

As I walk a darkened path on earth, you will be with me as
guide and companion, and be my seeing eyes

chara: mONa nilaithanilum--even in your deep meditative state
magizhndemaik kAththiDum--happily protecting us
nyAna vaDivE--the embodiment of gnAnA!
nallOrkkeLiyanE--easy access to good people!
nAvinil inimaiyum--with sweet (kind) words (nAvu--tongue)
nallaRamum--also dharma (nalla+aRAm)
payila: to learn, excercise
nIyE thuNai sei, dayAnidhiyE--you alone can (will) help, dayAnidhi

Even in your deep meditative state, you happily grant us
protection, you, the personification of gnAnA, are easily
accessible to good humans. Grant me kind words and deeds and
be with me.

This song may speak of any worthy guru, though kAnchi Sri Chandrasekhara Saraswathi, the tapasvi whose benevolence reached his devotees even in his deep meditative state, is referred to here.

Sorry, no audio...
