When Sankaran sir passed away in 2015, Shruti magazine asked me to write a tribute. The full article is available only for subscribers, but they seem to have published a couple of introductory paragaraphs on his birth anniversary in 2017:

What a nadopasaka Sankaran sir was. Such a deep insight into raga bhava, shruti, tone, modulation, etc etc...
