i met the carnatica bros. in sydney earlier this month. srhi ganesh told me that he and shri ravikairan are a chithravina duo, but they din't seem to play much today. they are very down to earth people. shri ganesh is also a child prodigy and used to be able to identify ragas at the very tender age of 2!!.

here's the link to his website:

This thread remembers me of carnatica brothers concert @ ramaseva mandali.
In front of very very limited number of audience, the concert was a class in itself.
The RTP in varamu was just mind blowing.. Fortunate to be there on that day...:)

chitravina ravikiran wrote:The challenge, thus, wasn’t simply about turning something to be read into something to be sung, but composing formal pieces in the pallavi-anupallavi-charanam format that can be performed on the Carnatic concert stage. Ravikiran felt that each group of 10 couplets — an Adhikaram — could be treated like a varnam or a kriti, with ample scope for the improvisatory parts (niraval, kalapanaswaram).
I am not fully comprehending what chitravina ravikiran says here . Does he say we can take one couplet of an adhikaram as pallavi , next 2 couplets as anupallavi , next 4 couplets as charanam , then take half a couple from anupallavi and/or charanam and sing as neraval . He himself can elaborate .

No doubt on his vidwat and musical spark . The proof of the pudding is in the eating - as rasika we have to taste aurally his tunes in a concert.

To add, in the original thread about this, I also questioned the need of doing it in x amount of hours, It's such a valuble project with unmatched, inspired couplets, take your time ... make sure it all adds up.

But what do I know, I am no Ravikiran :)

Also looking forward to seeing / listening to them on his YouTube channel. He's promised to put them on soon.

Dec 01st , year after year , the hindu comes up with a special margazhi supplement . All the sabha schedules are printed and usually sangeetha kalanidhi awardees have writeups.

Today - Dec 01,2017 , there was a writeup of chitravina ravikiran, best wishes to him.
