I attended this concert as it preceded the honouring of tambura artistes. Raghavendra Rao on the Violin. J.Vaidyanathan on the Mridangam and Dr.Karthik on the Ghatam were the accompanists. The song list.

CRama,pl.do give your value added reviews irrespective of whether you are a fan or not.If we can keep ourselves devoid of any preferences & prejudices that will make our mind lighter enabling us to enjoy any performance IMHO.

I saw the performance through webcast which was very clear both audio & video.kudos to carnatica.AS was bit louder than usual.I was expecting something great from the darbAri kAnadA song based on her built up.disappointed.she really labored to present the best.accompanists did an excellent job,esp.rAghavEndra rao.his bhairavi had some new sangathis.

Yes Suresh. I forgot. Yesterday I did not take any notes as I did not want to write. From memory I gave the list. Hence the omission. To make it clear, AS sang a slokam in Kalyani - Sabda brahmamayi charachara mayi (from Meenambika Sthothram) which she had sung in some Church in Italy and also followed with an Italian song which the Italian singer sang in the church as a sequel to her singing. This was on the request of somebody in the audience.

It was heartening to see presentation of awards to veteran Tambura artists.
(I could not attend the event as am out of station)
AS was found using an electronic Tambura besides a traditional vadyam for the concert.
But the original Tambura strain was not at all audible (at least in the audio link)
Two Tambura vadyams could have been used instead.
(Another Tambura player too would have happily volunteered)
Because the evening was dedicated to the Tambura artists.

CRama - Do you know more about Karuthil niraindai(Durbari kanada)-Thiruvarur Ramamurthy Iyer. I like to have the lyrics if available

VK Raman Sir, Have you heard this song earlier.
AS told that this composer is a Sangeetha vidwan settled in MUmbai. In her younger days, this vidwan used to go to their house and teach his compositions. His compositions are very much bhakthi laden and will bring tears when sung- AS told. But he is not known outside Bombay.
I have not heard this song earlier and I do not have the lyrics.
