This is the second time I am listening to Dr. Sh RN Sharma garu’s kucheri here at hyd. As we had seen before in 2014, his meticulous planning and selection of krithis and ragas was evident right from the beginning with a varnam, the main item and ending with a thillana on Lord Murugan, as the kucheri was being held under the aegis of Sri. Kartikeya Gana Sabha. I have never seen any other vidwan/vidushi take so much care in their choice. Our special thanks to him for this gesture. Full of classicism the concert was a treat for the rasikas. That week being the time of Dr. BMK garu passing away, with the music world in a mournful mood, every musician paid tribute in their own way, Dr. Sharma’s rendering of the beautiful kriti in Gurupriya was filled with bhakthi and bhavam. So were every other item. Overall an excellent kucheri!

The first varnam is by TRS . Three compositions of three great vidwans who were also great vaggeyakaras - TRS+BMK+LGJ, each of them mutually admiring the other two. Thank you sivakami for ur great review. Is jaya jaya swamin the Purandaradasar one or the narayana theerthar one???

Sivakami,
Happy to see your review!

Yes, I like Serthalai Ranganatha Sharma's music for the same reasons you mention. Variety and kachitham combined. Three great musicians/composers of our times featured in the concert too, as Rajesh says...

As an aside, have you penned any humorous season special this year? What you wrote two years ago (in the Languages section) was fun...:)
