MMU-Sanjay Subrahmanian 8/12/17
Vocal - Sanjay
Violin - S. Varadarajan
Mridangam - Neyvelli Venkatesh
Ghatam - Tripunithra Radhakrishna
1) Kalai Nirai Ganapathi - Hamsadhwani (KS)
2) Paruvam pArka nyAyamA - Dhanyasi Anai Ayya
3) SAmi MayUra giri VAsa - Khamas - Kavi Kunjara Dasar (R, KS)
4) Yarukku Ponnambalan Kripai IrukkudhO avanE periyavanAm Bhairavi GKB (R, N, KS & Thani)
I didn't make Notes for this concert and had no intention of putting in a review, but here I am. Phew, what a concert.
The man has no need for warm-up or settling down. It is the fast lane all the way for Sanjay and team. Dhanyasi seems to be the flavour this Season and just the kriti alone was pure essence! I still can't decide whether I enjoyed Khamas more or the Bhairavi. Maybe the main Bhairavi. The lyrics allowed Sanjay to use all the lines for his Niraval cleverly tying up the meanings. It was all capped off by an explosive Thani. The crowd was overflowing almost to the gate and rightly so.
I will be watching out for the telecast.

Arasi, it is by Kavi Kunjara Bharathi. I believe it is from Kutrala Kuravanji...

paruvam pArka nyAyamA? A song I took to, in my childhood! Paruvam merely meant a season to a child then! Didn't know that paruvam pArthal meant 'testing'. Just goes to say, language needn't be a barrier in appreciating music. The bhAvA which goes with it does it. Of course, fully understanding the verses enhances our enjoyment of a song.

Kavi Kunjara Bharati’s kuravanji is azhagar kuravanji. I am not sure how a composition on muruga would fit into the theme of azhagar kuravanji, a rather unique kuravanji.vijay.siddharth wrote: ↑09 Dec 2017, 13:39 Arasi, it is by Kavi Kunjara Bharathi. I believe it is from Kutrala Kuravanji...

The song is indeed a part of Azhagar Kuravanji. The 1st venpaa is on "Vinaayagar" followed by Vinayagar Thudhi. The 2nd venpaa is on "Muruga Kadavul" followed by a Muruga Kadavul Thudhi - " sAmi mayuragiri vadivElA"rshankar wrote: ↑09 Dec 2017, 20:18Kavi Kunjara Bharati’s kuravanji is azhagar kuravanji.
