NADA VEDAM- MUSIC CUM DISCOURSES BY POOJYASRI SWAMI OMKARANANDA

As a tribute to Late R.Krishnaswamy, ex Secretary of Narda Gana Sabha, the Sabha organised three days discourse by Poojyasri Swami Omkarananda in Tamizh along with the following musical programmes.

Mach 16- 6. P.M.-Panniru Tirumurai Isai by Sri. Sadgurunathan Oduvar and explanations by Swamiji.
March 17- 6.30 P.M. Dikshitar Kritis by Dr. Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam and explanation by Swamiji.
March 18- 6.30 P.M. Bharatiar Songs by Amrita Murali and explanation by Swamji.

Besides the above, on March 17, 9.30 AM, an organisation named Ullam Torum Valluvam organised Tirukkural vizha in which all the participants chanted Tirukkural verses and Swamiji gave explanations for them.

On March 16, Sadgurunathan Odivar rendered Twelve Tevara padigams in the authentic panns and Swamjji narrated the historical background behind these compositions and the meaning of those tevarams.
On March 17, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam rendered the following kritis of Deekhitar and Swamiji explained the philosophical thoughts hidden in the compositions.
1. Sree nadhadi Guruguho jayati- Mayamalavagowla.
2. Sree Dakshinamurthim- Bhenadyuthi.
3. Sree Gurunaa palithosmi- Padi.
4. Anandeswarena Samrakshitoham- Anandabhairavi.

Except the first song, the other songs are very rarely heard in the concert platform. Dr. VS rendered the songs in an unhurried style, in the right kalapramanam without stretching tooooo much and the talk by the Swamiji was much enriching.
I could not attend the programme on March 18.
Late R. Krishnaswamy was a man of great ideals and wisdom and great supporter of music, dance, drama, Namasankeertanam etc and it is gratifying to note that NGS is conducting religious discourses by the Swamiji every year on March 18. There was very good turnout on all the days and the lecture of Swamiji in tamizh was very engaging.
