Thyagabrahma Gana Sabha is celebrating Tamil Isai Vizha and Sriranjani presented an exclusive Tamil Kritis concert which conformed to her characteristic flamboyant style which was enjoyed by the large audience. She was accompanied by Kumbakonam M.R. Gopinath on the Violin, Sai Giridhar on the Mridangam and S. Krishna on the Ghatam. The concert commenced at 6. 30 P.M. List of songs.

Sreeranjani is blessed with a melodious voice that has got sruti sudham, reach, flexibility and strength. She comes in a great lineage having breathed and drank music right from her birth. Her concert reveals the hard work she has put in to capitalise all god given gifts in the right direction. IN today’s concert, there were many places where her manodharmam excelled. In the kriti, Kannai tirandu paar maname, popularised by her Paramaguru TNS, the innovative sangathis in the charanam line Anbanavan azhagan was illustrative of her glowing manodharmam. The Keeravani alapana deserves special mention for the long akara sangathis she has put in as also the captivating brighas she has employed liberally for best results. The alapana of Mohanam was also bright with the characteristic pidis and best utilisation of vocal skills. Before commencement of the kriti Narayana divya namam, she presented the Kulasekhara alwar pasuram Kulam tarum selvam thandidum in an evocative manner. For the song Vaananai, she crafted the swaras like Maaveeranai, magaa veeranai, dani veeranai etc. The song in Tanaroopi, the sixth Melakarta had an interesting chittaswaram. Tunbam nergayil was a good choice, as I had never heard this song in concert for decades now. The song of Bharatidasan was tuned and popularised by Dandapani Desigar.

Kumbakonam M.R.Gopinath followed well. His raga alapanas were good. But many a time he found it difficult to reproduce the laya complications which Sreeranjani presented. Sai Giridhar, with his anticipation and stage presence embellished the concert and thani with S. Krishna was enjoyable.

An excellent concert for two hours and five minutes.
