Gayathri Venkatraghavan who came as a last minute replacement for Visaksha Hari presented a much relishing concert. Sruti sudham, choicest expressions, voice felicity, manodharmam, proportion, team spirit with pakkavadyams, all contributed to the success of the concert. For the Varali kriti, elaborate neraval on the lines Marakatangi Panchanadeeswaruni rani and the cascade of swaras left a lasting impression in the minds of the rasikas. The alapana of Kambodi and Keeravani had much imagination and the rasikas responded with loud cheer. The song Neeye sharan Shamuga- is not a frequently heard song. It was well presented with imaginative swara prastarams at the pallavi. Kalikiyunte fitted well for the main piece with neraval on the lines Bahuga sree Raghuramuni and following swaraprastarams. The Kamalamanohari ragam and swaras were well crafted.

The accompanists provided very good support and the concert attained great heights as a result. An excellent concert for two hours and fifteen minutes.

Sanjay rocked in Narada Gana Sabha today. The concert started at 6.30- before the scheduled time and went on till 9.30. The selection of songs, musical expressions, manodharmam, eye for aesthetics, truly professional attitude- all were superb. There were many unheard songs also. The Varnam in Purvikalyani , the kriti in Karnataka Behag, the tevaram in Suruti- all are rare ones which he presented with polish and intensity. The raga alapanas of Abhogi, Suruti and Sankarabharanam all were excellent- with his open throated singing, lightning brighas, long akara passages, well presented gamakams all in place. Deenaraskhaga in Ahiri is a Voleti favourite. Never heard from other vidwans. Vande sada Padmanabham – he infused some akara passages of Ninnu vina namadendu. Well fitted there.

The pallavi- taken from the popular kriti of Gopalakrishna Bharathy- He gave adequate justice to all the elements of the pallavi. The raga was unfolded in a step by step manner eschewing unmusical phrases, with abundant manodharmam and voice felicity. The tanam was rendered in ragamalika- Hindolam, Panthuvarali,Kannada and Saveri. The structure of the pallavi was strange- at least to me. One cycle of the pallavi took two rounds of Adi talam 2 kalai. Same structure maintained in neraval, kalpana swarams etc. It would very well fit as a 4 kalai pallavi. More knowledgeable rasikas may kindly elaborate on this. The entire RTP took 1 hour and five minutes.

S.Varadarajan, as usual embellished the concert well. His alapana, especially Sankarabharanam was top notch. Neyveli Venkatesh and Anirudh Athreya were solid pillars of support to Sanjay. The thani for ten minutes received good audience response.

At the beginning of the concert, they announced a contest for identification of ragams. Waiting for the results. At the end of the concert, every one was given a sweet and mixture packet by Sree Krishna Sweets.

An excellent concert for three hours.
