How can such workshops achieve anything productive? Our music is best learnt at an individual level. Institutionalised, class roon and group teaching is OK until basics: saraLi through varnams and small kritis. Each student's ability to grasp is different, Nuances are lost in group renditions. Over time there is large scale dilution of pAThAntaram.

Also, with all due respects, senior musicians with good exposure to both lakshya and lakshana sangeetham, conducting such workshops is OK. I feel junior musicians who are still young cannot contribute much.

Anyway, for some in the US, this is a chance to atleast learn good music , going by quality of some teachers in the US. For others, it is a chance to put something on their resume.
