Great site for Hindi songs: http://www.hindigeetmala.com/
You can search on various categories, e.g. singer, movie etc.
E.g. choosing singer Mohammad Rafi lists hundreds of great songs by Rafi saab:

Enjoy!

The search facility at that site is a bit flaky indeed. But you do chance upon some gems this way!
And yes, the lyrics feature is a big plus.

Thanks everyone for appreciating our site. We are making constant efforts to improve our site and our database.

Recently, we have implemented on our site a very accurate and fast search facility for searching any song / film (even with different spelling in heading of song / film).

Please give specific suggestion to improve our site. You can post your suggestion here or you can email them at hindigeetmala@gmail.com

Thanks once again....

Thanks for nice comments.

BTW, the mistake pointed out by you about songs from Movie Aaram has been rectified. :) Thanks for helping us to improve our database. All the songs of this movie have been updated. While updating songs from this movie, I was surprised to find that the song "shukriya shukriya ai pyar tera shukriya" was filmed on Talat Mahmood himself. One of those rare song filmed on singer themselves. :)

Hello Geetmala admin:
This Mohd Rafi song is a favourite of mine: Main Gaoon Tum So Jao - happy - or - Main Gaoon Tum So Jao - sad

I can't find this or any other songs from this movie (Brahmachari) at your site. Please add.
Thank you so much for a wonderful site!

Hello ragam-talam:

First of all I am really grateful to you for introducing our site to this wonderful forum and for appreciating our site. :)

Further, our site did have songs from movie "Brahmachari", just that it is spelled as "Brahmchari" on our site. However, if you use movie_search option on our site, this movie shows at 2nd place (First result is: Ek Nari Ek Brahmachari).
http://www.hindigeetmala.com/movie/sear ... rahmachari

I guess you tried to find songs / movie using our search song option, which is available through out the site. Search Song option work for exact phrase for movie, singer, musician and so on. On the other hand, movie search option is available on all movie pages.

Anyways, you can also view songs from this movie from http://www.hindigeetmala.com/movie/brahmchari.htm

Further, we have added the happy version of the song at the site. (Sad version was already there)

Thanks a lot once again...

Geetmala, thank you! It was a great find for me to discover your site, and I was more than happy to share with forumites here. You are doing a great service indeed.

I did search using the film name option, i.e. entered 'brahmachari', chose 'Film' option, then clicked on the Submit button. This returned just one result, i.e. 'Aap Ke Pichhe Padgayi' from the movie 'Ek Nari Ek Brahmachari'. None from the Brahmachari movie.

Is it possible to improve your search facility to work for close patterns, e.g. Brahmachari, Brahmchari, etc. I believe google and other search sites use a fairly good search algorithm that you may wish to adopt. As you know, we tend to spell names (esp non-English) in different ways. For example, Rafi saab's first name can be spelt Mohammed, Muhammad, Muhammed etc.

Again, thank you.

We have a fairly good algorithm for searching songs as well as movie name. I guess, it's not shown prominently how it work. We need to work around it. :)

What I tried to explain was that we have two type of search facility on our site. One is "Search Song" based on song heading, film, film year, singer, star, music director, lyricist, and category. In this option, if you choose "song heading" option, site display songs based on a nice algorithm and you can find any song with even different spelling. For all other option, it work for exact phrase.

Secondly, we have "Search Movie" option, shown on movie pages. Here you can search for any movie (not for song), and again one can find all the movies with similar names. This "Search Movie" option is available at

http://www.hindigeetmala.com/movie/

For example, if you search for "brahmachari" on this page, you will get the desired result. Please click below to see:

http://www.hindigeetmala.com/movie/sear ... rahmachari

We will try to implement this algorithm on "Search Song" option very soon. :)

If you can suggest a better way to show the above option, it would be great...

Thanks and regards....

One suggestion: why don't include a Quiz of the week contest? This will help bring more people to your fine site.
The quiz can be on various topics, e.g. who composed song xxx, which year did singer yyy get zzz award, etc. etc.
And you could publish the names of winners etc.

See this site for some ideas: http://www.ragasurabhi.com
